Jan 17th 2007 2:42PM It also looks like they will lock out existing cingular customers who are not "eligible" for an update. This has been a mixed bag, no confirmed info, but there normal policy is such. If so, SO STUPID.

Jan 10th 2007 4:15PM I read over at Engadget Mobile where they posted Cingular internal FAQ that the phone will be available to new and exisiting customers. Can we assume that existing customers will have to pay a non contract price or maybe $499/$599 is the price. Considering apple is selling it in their stores, i doubt they are going to be checking contract status. Maybe you buy it in apple's store and then either call for a new account or just throw your sim in if you are an existing cingular customer and just call to change your dataplan.
