Verizon XV6800 in the flesh {Engadget Mobile}
Feb 10th 2007 2:37PM That sorta dispells the rumor that the xv6800 release was delayed due to a decision to ship the device with Crossbow... So what in the world could be taking them so long? And when in the world are we gonna be able to get this beast?

Verizon UTStarcom XV6800: the CDMA TyTn lives! {Engadget Mobile}
Feb 2nd 2007 12:00PM @Tivoking - I hear you on that. My ne2's been up since 12/5. I've been dying for the xv6700 and its capabilities since it originally came out and haven't been able to get it because of my contract. Now my contract is over and I could pick one up but instead I'm just sitting here waiting for the Tytn to come out instead.
@Greg - Yes the device has a thumbwheel and it also still uses the touchscreen/stylus. The thumbwheel is used to help with navigating menus and viewing web pages with one hand. The device is probably going to be the same size as the 6700 minus the antenna nub a the top (since the Cingular version of the device is that way), I don't know about the weight though.
Check out the following video which includes a look at how the thumbwheel functions and also shows some size comparisons with other phones.

HTC Titan in the wild {Engadget Mobile}
Feb 2nd 2007 11:11AM From what I hear, the cell phone reception is excellent in comparison to it's predecessor and other phones in its class because all of the other ports and components have been moved away from the antenna.
Still very excited to pick this device up. I'd like to pair it up with the bluetooth on Pioneer's upcoming AVIC-D3 car navigation device (to be released within the next month). Hopefully the two will work well together.

Jan 26th 2007 10:11AM #31, I don't know the answer for sure but check out a couple shots taken from various reviews. Looks pretty good to me:
(there are 2 pics on this review, click Next to see the other one)

It would be a treat if the flash function is more than just useless like all other camera phones are, but I'm not holding my breath.

Jan 24th 2007 10:30PM I saw that posting on the other page as well... but now that we're talking about it, wasn't the Sprint version due in May? I had the impression that Verizon's version was due out well before Sprint's. I will be taking it with a grain of salt as well.
Many are speculating now that the delay is due to a decision to test and rollout the phone with the Crossbow OS. Can anybody tell us which phone(s) is slated to release with Crossbow first? Maybe then we can better predict when the Titan will be released.
BTW, for those worried about the proprietary USB port, don't worry about it. Reviews about the 3G version of the TyTn have already indicated that standard mini USB cables will still work and even charge the phone.

Jan 10th 2007 4:04PM Isn't the word out on the street that the phone is slated for a Q1 07 release? If that is the case, we'll certainly see the phone before April 1. I think that's a definite for the Libra since that's what it says on Roc A Fella's picture, but it doesn't show for the 6800. Nonetheless, I don't want to wait any longer, I just want it now!
By the way, I'm now a little nervous about the 1/15 date because the supposed 1/8 Libra launch is past... but hey at least the week isn't over yet.

Jan 2nd 2007 11:13AM @Tom, if Verizon launched it online only this month, would the stores still get the test units before then? I'm thinking that's more likely to happen than a rollout to all of the retail stores.
I've still got my fingers crossed on that rumored 1/15 launch date, since the source of the rumor was pretty accurate on the Sierra Aircard 595 launch date last month.
