BREAKING: First glimpse of the production Chevy Volt! {Autoblog}

Dec 10th 2007 3:47PM "GM Vice-Chairman Bob Lutz spoke to the Detroit Free Press on a wide range of product topics today and revealed some very important news. The first prototype battery packs for the Chevy Volt have arrived at GM's test labs this week."

Ultreo toothbrush uses ultrasound, but can it clean teeth? {Engadget}

Feb 24th 2007 9:11PM 3t3, I believe I know what you speak of.

It sounds like you're describing the old two-piece Sonicare brush head that had a piece of plastic behind the actual brush. Like in this picture:

http://mindprod.com/images/sonicare.jpg

The 2nd generation Sonicare, which has been available for years now, has been redesigned with a more streamlined and easier to clean brush head like the one you see on the Ultreo:

My apologies if you meant something different.

Feb 24th 2007 6:35PM Seems like what I'd expect as the next evolutionary step in the Sonicare line.

I've had nothing but positive experiences (and nice, white teeth) with my Sonicare toothbrushes over the years and will at least wait to see the next generation before I consider switching to this.

It does look promising.

SendStation's Dock Extender lets your iPod keep its clothes on {Engadget}

Feb 17th 2007 4:50PM "there's no point in getting such a beautiful device if you're going to have it wrapped up in a ball of duct tape."

Ball of duct tape? Have you seen the Contour Design Showcase video?

http://www.contourcase.com/showcase/showcasevideo/

I ordered one two days ago and it's a work of art. The days of drab iPod cases have been gone for years.

The iSkin evo3, the Agent18 VideoShield. You can still protect your iPod without marring its beauty (to a certain extent of course).

Once my case arrives, I'll probably be looking for this Extender. Sounds like it could come in handy.

Meizu M8 / miniOne closer to production, litigation {Engadget}

Feb 14th 2007 12:54AM "These are the same people who think the Apple v PC ads are spot on. According to Apple, as a PC user, I've never listened to music, watched movies, or looked at pictures on my computer. All I've done is create spreadsheets."

Yet another humorless individual who failed to grasp the concept of the Get a Mac ads.

You'd think that by beginning each commercial with John Hodgman proclaiming "I'M A PC," followed by Justin Long's "and I'M A MAC," even children could understand that they represent the computers and operating systems being compared.

The man in the suit and tie is a PC RUNNING WINDOWS. The guy in the more comfortably dressed down attire is a MAC RUNNING OS X. They are not the people sitting behind the keyboards who use them. They are not in any way representative of YOU as a person.

Feb 13th 2007 7:27PM "But by the same token it is also pretty obvious that Apple had no problem ripping off the award-winning design of the LG/Prada phone, and just giving it a couple of touches to make it look more Apple."

Yeah, Apple copied LG by designing a product with a minimalist surface comprised of a large touchscreen.

Absolutely NOTHING like the Apple Newton from 1993.

Meizu M8 / miniOne closer to production, litigation {Engadget}

Feb 13th 2007 6:46PM "apple didn't develop multitouch....fingerworks did."

Wayne Westerman himself admitted that the iPhone took Multi-touch beyond any application previously shown in the article you provided.

"The one difference that's actually quite significant is the iPhone is a display with the multi-touch, and the FingerWorks was just an opaque surface. That's all I'm going to say there. There's definite similarities, but Apple's definitely taken it another step by having it on a display."

The difference between those FingerWorks devices and the iPhone are night and day.

Feb 13th 2007 5:40PM I bet it doesn't have Multi-touch. That would be the key difference.

No way Meizu jumped into Multi-touch technology and produced a consumer device this quickly. There's a reason why it took Apple over 2 years, the same reason why they stand alone.

If it's a single input touchscreen like the Prada phone (not to imply the LG Prada is a copy), then emulating the iPhone this quickly is no great technological feat as some claim. Any manufacturer can whip up a WM smartphone like this. The question is what happens when I press two fingers against the screen at the same time.

Apple and Cisco agree to delay lawsuit, maybe hug it out {Engadget}

Feb 1st 2007 11:18AM I bet Apple hopes their new competition in the mobile phone arena thinks like disciple83. It will make their domination in this segment all the more easier.

LOL @ any comparison to the Samsung Sync. "Hey, my phone plays music. iPhone is already obsolete!"

Right out of the Microsoft playbook. Deny, deny, deny, then create the ZuneTalk five years later when Apple is the 4th leading manufacturer of cell phones.

Rollins resigns, Michael back as Dell CEO {Engadget}

Jan 31st 2007 7:33PM Lol, the irony.

October 6, 1997: Michael Dell offers Guidance for Apple Executives

Gil Amelio had recently been ousted and Apple was in the midst a search for the next CEO of the Cupertino based computer manufacturer.

While the search was continuing Apple asked Steve Jobs to step up his involvement. Not all industry insiders thought having Steve around was a good idea, they rightly feared that Mr. Jobs’ presence would scare away many potential [CEO] candidates.

Michael Dell was in the “Steve won’t help camp” and, when asked what he thought Apple should do replied, “What would I do? I’d shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.”

----

I hope someone in turn asks Steve Jobs what he thinks the return of Michael Dell will mean for this company.
