AT&T, O2 post updates on iPhone 3G stock situation, promise they don't have a secret cache {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 24th 2008 2:59PM This is sad, but true. Once a phone is shipped - it cannot be cancelled. The information is tied to your account, and the computer needs to recognize that the phone has been returned. You'd think a better system would have been developed by now.

Jul 24th 2008 1:43PM It's your visual voicemail. Nothing AT&T or Apple can do about it - but they should have warned you. Visual Voicemail on the iPhone is different than regular voicemail. It completely resets your old voicemail. It deletes all your old messages, resets all settings, and you start from square one.

AT&T is telling people 2 weeks to prepare you. It could be 2 days, but it could take up to 2 weeks.

AT&T, O2 post updates on iPhone 3G stock situation, promise they don't have a secret cache {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 24th 2008 12:04PM I know someone who works in the Business Channel of AT&T - they were told there were plenty of iPhones before the launch. I find it incredible that they are so badly out of stock.

Seems like this certainly was bigger than Apple expected. Stock Shortage, Server Problems, Activation Issues.... Apple was not prepared enough for this. I wouldn't say it was a flop or the downfall of Apple - but it certainly made them take a hit. They are known for getting things right and working - and that just did not happen as well as it should have this time.

And more than you think.

AT&T retailer accused of pawning used Nokias as new {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 17th 2008 9:20AM Probably cuz they figure AT&T and Nokia should be overseeing things like that - making sure their "authorized" retailers are up to snuff.

That, or they spell them "AT$T" and "N$kia". Yeah, that's probably closer to true.

Jul 17th 2008 9:16AM Non-Touch Screen Version? Any word???

Microsoft Equipt (subscription based Office) to go on sale this week {Download Squad}

Jul 14th 2008 6:53PM I, for one, would consider paying 70 a year for these features. I don't have the money to buy a full release. I am not a student, so I can't get them cheaply (and legally.)

I do like OpenOffice, but sometimes I just prefer to use the brand name - it is a better program often, and most of the people I work with use word - so better to be safe than sorry when it comes to compatibility!

It's iPhone 3G tear-down time {Engadget}

Jul 10th 2008 12:36PM Useless? Far from it. Overpriced? What phone isn't?

Is the iPhone perfect? Is it a God? NO. It's not.

But, gee - how many have attempted to imitate it? People want this phone, they want the touchscreen capabilities, they want the screen size, they want the storage size, they want the full browsing capabilities.

However, yes - not everyone bows down before the iPhone.

Walt Mossberg reviews the iPhone 3G, isn't that impressed (now with more David Pogue and Ed Baig!) {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 9th 2008 9:26AM Take a dose of reality Walt and others...

Like it or not - the data plans are in line with AT&T's other PDA phones. The Q, Blackjack, Blackjack II, Tilt, Duo, Blackberrys.... They ALL are $30 for "Personal" data and $45 for "Enterprise Data." Expensive? Yeah - especially for personal when you think regular MediaNet is just $15. But that's the way it is.

The fact is that iPhone users are spoiled with their previous pricing. $20 was cheap. I was jealous - I couldn't afford $400 for a phone, I bought the Q instead - but paid $30!

The fact is that this phone is cheaper due to AT&T's subsidies, and therefore, this will fall in line with all other phones.
