BlackBerry Storm 9530 for Verizon gets boxed {Engadget}
Aug 28th 2008 4:28PM I think this will be a great phone. It isn't the same concept as the Iphone, so I'm not sure it's a fair comparison. The full OS on the Iphone is good, but basic consistent functionality and reception issues have been a problem. Many of my friends have call dropping issues on both the Gen1 and Gen2 Iphones. Maybe it's a network issue with all those data connections over GSM? Still, this BB will hopefully have the best interface for a BB yet with the reliable and updated OS and do what it does well=make phone calls and get your SMS and email with ease. It doesn't do all of what the Iphone does- not even close in some categories. But what the Blackberry does-it does it more consistently and quite easily. I had the Iphone on ATT and now have the Curve on VZW in the same area. The Curve is more consistent with email and call quality than the Iphone on ATT. Maybe it's the network or whatever, but I need the basics to be excellent, not just GPS, music, html and then, bells and whistles. I just have an ipod touch for fun and call it a day.
Sprint, Clearwire set to announce $12B WiMAX deal with Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Intel, and Google? {Engadget}
May 6th 2008 7:46PM This looks good on paper, but I doubt that any of these companies can work together to achieve any level of consistency and customer satisfaction. I do not think that they can co-exist and stay consistent, despite the potential power of the WIMAX system. Like Sprint, the network's power could well be swallowed by the lack of consistent service and customer satisfaction and relations. Too many divergent interests, goals and inconsistent or incompatible business models. WIMAX looks good, but this alliance makes me sense a disturbance in the force.
Verizon's BlackBerry Curve launches on May 9, too {Engadget Mobile}
Apr 30th 2008 9:23PM It's about time! VZW has promised me one of these little guys to replace my malfunctioning Pearl and I can't wait...
Cingular rep asked me about Pearl: "What was that called, again?" {BBHub}
Dec 2nd 2006 9:46AM WOW! I'm sorry that everyone had such a bad experience. I was the first guy to get a Pearl at the Northern Pittsburgh, PA Store in Cranberry Twp. I must say that I am AMAZED that the 8100 doesn't seem to drop calls where my 7130c and 8700c DID drop calls!
I've been into the wirless deal for well over fifteen years. I have six lines for my family alone. Almost everyone at my Cingular store from the manager down, are together, polite and well-versed in what they sell. So, for the rest of you-I guess it's just finding a good store/rep and sticking with them. My rep, Geoff M. (the MAN), takes care of his customers. Point in case, Cingular screwed up my bill (second time in 3 years); he noted the account to make the technical error that had occured noticable when I called in to challenge the charges. I never could have found the problem myself and the customer service people are either great or worthless (like the stores, I guess) I'm just a customer, but I bet you'd be a lot happier if you could fine one good store like mine. Cingular: fix your mess!
