The genesis of the iPhone {Engadget}

Jan 13th 2007 1:48AM so, i think its a great product but....
my main to beefs 9i wont go into all the others, i have allot) are that it doesn't look ipod-ish or apple-esque enough (should be white and squarer, but i still think its beautiful, they just didn't capitalize on the look they already have). Second: PRICE. Now i know all the arguments but lets consider how much it really cost them to make it. Each one probably costs less than 100 dollars to produce. Research and Development maybe 500 million (so much i know, but look at it). They are overcharging. Now i know thats how business owrks and they ARE trying to make a profit, so i'm not preaching and saying there bad. Its just that lots of people will instinctively know how much there getting ripped off. This doesn't factor in the features or anything just the actual cost. Its interesting...

The game has changed {Engadget}

Jan 9th 2007 8:28PM Lets be real people. Its not actually OSX as in you could take it and put it on a computer, its been ported, and jobs didn't mention any kind of word processing above notes or support for even ONE third party app (except google maps). He's got the interface and design right, but he needs to cut down the price drastically, add tons more business savvy features, more than any other phone and then it'll be the perfect phone. Asfor the touchscreen, it seems great now but as other people have mentioned, it gets scratched and dirty and can screw up easily and get cracked etc. Overall i dont think it'll be a flop, but like mac computers (until recent years) it'll be for the rich. Hopefull they'll bring it down from that place and make it available for the rest of us but until then, other phones will rule (like the cheaper non-mac computers always did, its changing though)

Jan 9th 2007 8:09PM p.s. totally agree Jrgen Veisdal
does anyone think they'll eventually phase out the ipod cause of this. It seems ridicuals now but maybe... mac tablet=my life ending and beginning again in a perfect world thats better than heaven.

The genesis of the iPhone {Engadget}

Jan 9th 2007 8:06PM Its amazing. It should be white and a little more square, but the interface is perfect and intuitive. When will it be available in Canada though, i'm a canuck myself. But people lets not kid ourselves. Current phone browsers suck just as much as steve said, even though the iPhone wont go nearly that fast on a real network (it was probably on Wi Fi or something for the Keynote). Looks great though, but i think it wont be as good as it looks now. He didn't mention whether it would work with different apps (which would make it really computer-esque). He also didn't mention handwriting recognition ( i know he said no stylus but...). I dunno why he hates styluses though, seriously there fine. Also he didn't develope the multitouch thing.Many other people have done that, just not commercialy (in which it will eb a first). Plus one thing lots of people realise about macs (i dont use them, but i have tried them many times) is that when they crash they crash BAD (esp photoshop). But of course the interface is great (which is what macs are about) though vista will give them a run for there money. Well i'll rap this mini essay up now

Wowwee's FlyTech Dragonfly in action {Engadget}

Dec 17th 2006 2:18PM p.s. i guess its not that small. Btw the jerky way it moves is ugly and creeps me out a bit along with the sound. I can just imagine 10 billion of them each mounted with poison dart shooters taking over the world lol.

Low-cost MOTOFONE hits India {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 28th 2006 11:29PM As someone who is interested in the increasing incorporation of design in electronics,and someone who has a razr i agree witht he person who said that big wide phones are boring now. The enxt step (ithink) get rid of the DAMN keypad and give me a massive touchscreen. I understand all to well the satisfaction one gets from licking a button, but phones these days have LAZER CUT keypads i.e. they are impossible to navigate and dont make a sound. Bring out the touchpads, there hardly that expensive anymore. Also, for anyone interested in getting a razr dont. It looks great on a bilboard but in your hand its clunky (to wide) and just generally flip-phones suck. Also razr's get scratched super easily (if you have a coin in your pocket with them, just one, it screws you over).

ps. i love to rant
pps. I think engadget is amazing, but yuo should all take a look at core77.com, and industrial design website.
