Jul 11th 2008 4:18AM "Hi. I'll be playing the part of the person that will deny that a good game also needs good graphics. Just look at any good game from NES - N64 era (or even past that, depending on the game). Good games do NOT need good graphics."
Ahhh you have stumbled into my trap. Why? Because you disprove your own point. You say NES-N64 era games that were good. Well, first mistake is you're compareing, them,, obviously to what is considered good by todays standards. You see, When most of those games came out, they were AMAZING graphically. Zelda 64, Mario 64, Link To The Past, FF 4 and 6.. They were some of the most beautiful games we had seen, in their day. Street FIghter 2, Samurai Showdown, Super Mario 1, SMB 3... Holy cow, these games were bleeding edge in their day.
They had Graphics AND Gameplay. It was this whole Wii thing that decided that good visuals somehow killed the quality of a game. All this hype because some Nintendo Fanboys needed to defend their underpowered console. Or even above, some idiots who looked at a bunch of screenshots, and overhyped some game, only to be disappointed that it sucks. Because, all Wii games are Excellent since their graphics suck.
You know what though? I'll be the first, and not the last to say, a Good game has great gameplay and bad graphics (Duke Nukem Manhattan Project), a Shitty game has great graphics and crappy gameplay (Blasto, Rascal), but the legendary games, the ones that change our lives, have Great gameplay AND Great graphics (Donkey Kong (original) Goldeneye, Quake, Doom, Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Legend Of Zelda, Legond Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time, Mario 64, Soul Calibur, Sonic The Hedgehog, Megaman 1-5, Super Mario World, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy 4 and 6, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 7, Gran Toruismo, Halo, Duke Nukem 3D, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Ico, Half Life 2, Legend of Zelda: A link to the past, Mario Bros, Pac Man, Pong, Street Fighter 2..... etc...) All of those games listed were at the top of their respective generations graphically. As well as gameplay wise.
So, most, if not all the best games from Atari, to N64, an PS1, all of them had Incredible graphics. This is the first generation that has decided that putting work into good visuals, somehow kills games. Even Guitar Hero and Rock band have good visuals. A GREAT game design, is the total package. "and" not "or"

Jul 7th 2008 3:37PM Nono.. I think there is an abundance of Retard in the water. Such over compensation for why I should be excited for a 20 year old game, that isn't 20 years old. This isn't a NEW mega man game, this is an Old Mega Man game, and If I'm going to play a great 8-bit MM game, guess what, I've got MM2, or 4, or MM3, the best in the series. The 8-bit graphics aren't going to distract me from it being another mediocre 2D game. If Capcom could still do a good MM game, they would have done it a long time ago on the DS.
Cause I figure with Arrrgh's logic, then We should all be enjoying Land Before Time movies, and not The MAtrix or any live action, grown-up movies.
And Wait, isn't the Wii better then the other consoles because they recycle old gameplay? Give me a megaman that plays like MM2, and throw in some beautiful hand drawn sprites ala Street Fighter 2 HD Remix. And we'll talk. These fanboys don't realize that the games we loved, didnt have great graphics COMPARED TO TODAY... but at the time they were pushing the envelope in high end technology. MM3 and 4 Pushed the lil NES. Graphically, LoZ: Ocerina of time was the N64s Gears Of War. Same with Soul Calibur. The impact these games had on us, were due to the complete package. They blew us away, visually. that was a part of their Impact. because we have a new bar, doesn't mean that at the time they didn't have a big impact on us when they first came out.
Megaman 9 is a bad idea. It'll blease the retro folk, but don't pretend to say we're not Hardcore fans for expecting and wanting more.

Jul 7th 2008 3:22PM Are you serious? Those games were buggy as hell! Especially Mega Man games. Oh they NEEDED patches.. they just didn't get any. I mean, imagine a modern game coming out with the same Slowdown and Flickering that MM2 had. Add in disappearing background stuff.
I love how people tend to forget how incredibly buggy and glitchy NES games were
Wii Warm Up: Retro Man 9 {Nintendo Wii Fanboy}
Jul 4th 2008 12:56PM Pandering, plain and simple.
That's why it's Wii only, that's why it's using 8-bit pixel art. I'm fucking sick of this whole gameplay v. graphics debate. You'd think after getting the millions of shitty looking games, that you'd realize that great games have gameplay AND graphics. I mean even going back to the original Mega Man and Mega Man X games.. they were visually stunning for their day.
If I wanted to play an 8-bit Mega Man, I'm more likely to go back and play Mega Man 2, or 3 or 4, then I am to play this identical game.

Jul 3rd 2008 7:41PM peepoop.
No, Sir, YOU don't get it. People play games to have fun. THis idea of graphics vs. gameplay is the dumbest most idioic thing of this generation. Games that get it right, are the ones that are FUN. That's despite graphics, gameplay, story, all of that. A well designed game can, an usually does have ALL of that. Look at Soul Calibur, And Zelda: Ocarina of time.. considered 2 of the best games ever made, and they had both the gameplay, and visuals, and sound for their day.
As for me, it doesn't matter, I dont have a Wii anymore, and considering there are only 3 Wii games that i enjoy, $250 is way too much. I'll wait for a Real Megaman game with modern 2D graphics. Let's not forget that Capcom has failed at making a good megaman for 5 years.
