Samsung u620, VCAST TV details go up on Verizon's site {Engadget Mobile}
Mar 1st 2007 6:52PM IIRC, AT&T actually rolled out with 3G in the US well before Verizon. I think they had it in Seattle, San Diego and a couple of other markets. I think they only had two phones that were total clunkers (1 Nokia & 1 Moto), but they were 3G. It was not too long before Cingular bought AT&T.
Mobile phones to adopt smaller "micro-USB" connector {Engadget Mobile}
Jan 5th 2007 11:07AM Dustin, I'm reading it to mean we'll be shelling out the few ($30) extra bucks for new chargers. Not that this will dramatically increase the prices of phones.
Sprint hit with lawsuit over handset locking {Engadget Mobile}
Oct 10th 2006 9:52PM Since people can't apparently read, the article says that Sprint didn't disclose that the phones are locked. It's pretty much common knowledge that Cingular and T-Mobile lock their phones. People are agreeing to that because they know about it.
SMS to the rescue: texting saves boy's life {Engadget Mobile}
Oct 5th 2006 8:14PM Some bad PR for MySpace would be very nice too. Like PC Magazine naming it the #1 worst web site. It's stupid people, get over it. I don't even get why it was a fad in the first place. Yay! Even an idiot can "design" a web site, have a blog and "upload" music to their site! Super-sweet!

Cingular slaps surcharge on TDMA accounts {Engadget Mobile}
Aug 2nd 2006 12:04PM According to the actual stats, TDMA customers are predominantly older, don't even use features such as text messaging or have others like insurance/roadside assist, due to AT&T's love of giving away the farm (or company apparently), they get credits for their mobile to mobile and nights and weekends and they get 600+ minutes for $14.99. Now they want the same plan, no contract and a free phone, then they bitch about the quality. GET A CLUE!!! YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! If Cingular didn't have to support TDMA anymore, you can bet your sweet ass they'd redirect the money spent on it into GSM buildout. They budget money for "network" and that includes all technologies, so it would be redirected to GSM/HSDPA. And for those that don't like the idea of now having to pay $29.99, piss off, nobody else gets to pay that. Or go to T-Mobile, you can pay that price and I'm sure the quality will be just like your TDMA (sarcasm).
Cingular launches BlackBerry 7130c {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 8th 2006 5:05PM Okay, so I have to pay $5 more to get blackberry access EVERYWHERE? Plus 130 of my favorite countries? Gee, that sure sucks. I think most business people, which is the primary market for BlackBerry would gladly pay $5 more for a device that works far more places.
