Samsung Instinct firmware changes confirmed: it's the browser {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 6th 2008 9:00AM yep, it helps with speed and offers a full screen mode if you hit the voice command button when in the browser. there is also an update planned in the next few weeks that will add support for lcdui (basically, allowing the keyboard to be accessed in java apps such as google maps, etc) and viewing of office and pdf files. possibly even exchange calendar support. the diamond and pro might be better business devices, but sprint and sammy seem committed to making the instinct better

How would you change the Samsung Instinct? {Engadget}

Jul 18th 2008 7:00PM ive had mine since a bit before launch and have yet to experience any software issues. my bars fluctuate like crazy, but actual call quality seems constant and i have not dropped a call. its definitely running a lot smoother than my iphone 3g right now.

-the battery life is underwhelming, and way less than advertised.
-the portrait keyboard is stupid, it needs to be t9. yesterday.
-the music player does a poor job or recognizing id3 tags. only about half of my tagged songs are recognized, and of those only half the album art is recognized
-the unlock is semi-annoying, but once you get used to it pressing and holding has some advantages of pressing and then sliding, imo
-browser isnt as bad as the reviews make it out to be, but it sure is slow. once pages load they render beautifully though
-the camera is underwhelming, though im not expecting to replace my point and shoot with a phone
