Google to deliver free airport Wi-Fi for the holidays {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 11th 2009 6:47PM Late news is what TUAW does best.

TUAW: The second most relevant Apple blog on the Weblogs network.

Think those warranty parts are new? Think again {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 1st 2009 10:16PM Who actually thought they were receiving new parts? This is standard practice across the industry, and you'd be stupid to do it any differently. It's a waste of money, materials, energy, man power, etc. to use new parts for refurbishing a machine.

A refurbished part works no differently than a new one. A two year old logic board doesn't pass along any more ones and zeros than a two day old one. As long as it works the same, looks the same, and is covered under the same warranty, that's all that matters.

Magic Mouse unboxing video: Man vs. Tape {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 1st 2009 9:39PM Sorry for the double post, I always have problems with this commenting system.

Magic Mouse unboxing video: Man vs. Tape {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 1st 2009 9:35PM You're not big on patience or following directions, eh? If you would have stopped for two seconds you would've noticed the "peel" tab.

The case is a very responsible move on Apple's part to minimize the size of packaging and reduce waste and energy getting that mouse to you.

Just in case, soda cans have a tab on the top that pops them open, please don't try to stab the bottom with a pair of scissors.

First Look: Zipcar app for iPhone hits the road {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 28th 2009 2:43PM It's a fantastically good deal for me, someone who lives in downtown Portland with 200+ cars at my disposal. I use it mostly to haul stuff (people or cargo) and it's very useful and cost effective compared to renting a car of truck for the day, which may not even be possible since most places have regular business hours.

Also, the $29 deal for 6pm-8am is great, as is the half price after midnight deal (which I use all the time). It's cheaper/better than a cab, and for short trips even better than public transit!

Ok, I swear I don't work for them :P

The Bookmark App: Audiobooks finally done right {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 12th 2009 8:28PM I've never actually dealt with the chapters themselves, since my place has never been lost. I listen to the book, I can pause, play, rewind, fast forward, play other files, play the same file in another location and my place is always right where I left it. I guess if you have this problem then this is a solution, I've just never heard of it before now.

The Bookmark App: Audiobooks finally done right {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 12th 2009 6:42PM I have never had this problem. I currently have 32 audiobooks on my iPhone, all of them are either one, two, or three files depending on the size of the book. Not once has it ever lost my place, in fact it keeps my place when I listen to it on my phone or on my laptop and synch between the two. It does the same with podcasts.

European nav app first out of the gate for iPhone {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 20th 2009 5:40PM I could have so used this on my three month tour of Europe which just recently ended. Because I was in Europe I couldn't use data, and Google Maps was useless. I would've gladly paid $100 for it, since it would've paid for itself several times over in time and hassle.

And no I'm not rich, I spent less than $50/day.
