Sony exec says UMD-less PSP was "always the plan" {Engadget}

Jul 2nd 2009 5:44PM KC:
Forget BT... someone can just make a snap-on controller (perhaps with a battery pack built in) that will barely make the phone larger but will please hardcore gamers. Sony is nuts.

Palm Pre gets upgraded to 1.0.4 (update: homebrew installs via email dead for now) {Engadget}

Jun 29th 2009 3:36PM This is a lot worse than Apple's plugging holes via updates. This is installed automatically, so you have no choice whether to keep the old software with your hacks or the new software that plugs the hole. What's to stop them from locking out homebrew software (or any unauthorized software) via automatic update?

Palm says no webOS SDK till end of Summer {Engadget}

Jun 19th 2009 4:13PM Spiny,

Oh enough with the 25k fart apps already... so what if there are even afew dozen? There's still about 50k OTHER great apps that are eminently usable on a daily basis... its a serious platform as it is, with there about to be an explosion in usefulness due to the APIs in 3.0, and Palm is foolish to ignore this. Think about it: all the money people spent on apps LOCKS THEM IN to the iPhone platform for years. Palm NEEDS apps to make the Pre and webOS a success.

Jun 5th 2009 5:53PM Why would anyone want this phone over a pre or iPhone? I just don't see where the market is here.

Palm Pre review {Engadget}

Jun 3rd 2009 10:59PM 1. Complexity is absolutely NOT want people want in a phone
2. Apple will not have "lost" because there are already about 30 million iPhones/iPod touches out there and it doesn't look like the momentum is going to stop anytime soon. Palm may well get a nice chunk of the market in time, and can be a respectable competitor, but there's plenty of room for more than one brand in the market. I'm glad Apple has competition, because it forces them to up their game.

Palm Pre review {Engadget}

Jun 3rd 2009 10:55PM I only want MS to fail because they have been pushing an inferior product on everyone simply based on their size, and expected everyone to like it. They cannot manage to get a portable OS right, despite having multiple competitors who CAN do it (Google, Apple, RIM, now Palm) and many more years to try (how long has Windows CE and its descendants been around?). The only reason they're still in the mobile game at all is because of their size and agreements with OEMs. It has nothing to do with the quality of the OS. But hey, since I'm just a dumbass, I guess I'll go back to studying for my medical licensing exam.
