I'm not sure why they would waist their time with this, if you have any information on what will happen with the TV Towers you would know they are in talks of shutting them down. Look below.
So now Verizon has Great New Phones that can only last to 2009, We are in 2007 and 2008 is getting closer. 2009 is the cut off date, why would you want to do something thats ending in 2009.
