I basically stopped thinking of the iPod Touch as an MP3 player after using it for a few days. I decided I was tired of the 1st generation Touch when I had no way of controlling audio playback (volume/play/pause) without looking at it. I sold the Touch and got a Zune 120 for all my media-usage needs. Now, though, I want to get a good PDA, and despite waiting for the Zune HD to hopefully fill that gap, but Microsoft's Q&A about the future of the HD makes it look like the iPod Touch is the only game in town right now.
PDA? Yes, with an emphasis on gaming.
MP3 Player? That focus was killed off long ago.

The Zune HD does have a browser, it's based off Mobile IE, and is pinch-zooming just like the iPod Touch. There's been blurrycam photos of an Applications section in the Marketplace, but no official word from Microsoft when or what kind of apps will be available. The Zune also already has some games, but on a limited (think iPod Classic) basis. Give it time, the iPod Touch went a year before getting anything beyond what Apple put in.
