Windows Mobile gets location-based searches thanks to Google's GeolocationAPI {Engadget Mobile}

Feh, barely useful if you have a non-GPS WinMo phone. If you got a WinMo phone in 2007/2008 and you're reading Engad-Mob then you have GPS and you'll want the many benefits of Live Search instead. Google's is ancient iPhone v1 tech.

Stargate Atlantis: Whispers {TV Squad}
Sep 7th 2008 12:58AM Eps that Make You go Ugh
Are they so hard up for an original story they've got to do a tired zombie piece ?! And they just threw situational plausibility out the window, too. That was just pathetic. And most of the cast took a break on this one, too. Where were they ?! Contract guaranteed break ? Contributing to the lazy effort of this episode you have Carson and McKay in the closing scene wearing the same clothes, with shirt zippers in the same position, and both standing in the same positions with the camera using the same angle. It's just so obvious the director nailed two separate scenes with only a change in dialogue. Have they just given up already ?! Sheesh.
Stargate Atlantis canceled, kind of {TV Squad}
Aug 21st 2008 8:59PM Fine, SG-Atl was getting too girlified anyway. Remember the head of SciFi Network is a woman and that's why SG-Atl was run by a woman up until Woolsey, and now it's cancelled. The whole Teyla pregnancy and birth and how quickly she went back to work was such a transparent do-it-all feminist shout out. Gag.
This COULD'VE been a great and outstanding series but it was ruined by feminist in charge. And don't hold out for "Sanctuary" being any better. Amanda Tapping wears a black-hair wig, speaks in tortured British, and is the Enjoli-woman of that environment too. Episode 7 of its webisodes blantantly declares its hatred of men. Pathetic. Very very disappointed.
Let's all stop the weeping and gnashing of cost-conscious network execs, and look forward to the next generation of Stargate -- yes, just like so many Star Treks. We can only hope it's good enough to last four or five seasons before it also becomes too expensive.
HTC Touch Pro hands-on {Engadget Mobile}
Aug 12th 2008 12:45AM Most Pathetic Hands On EVER!
Ryan, what's with the Android fan-boy idiocy ?! It's not even out, there's no user specs, and it'll be a pathetic v1.0 whenever it does come out. Park your WM attitude and do some authentic reporting, ok ?! Now, you can't tell from the photos nor the scant writeup but is the Home screen in color or just shades of gray ? How can you not even mention its TouchFlo 3D interface and its performance ?! I don't understand such rookie reporting on a highly anticipated handset. Please get a grown up (or your legal guardian) to do another, more indepth review that's actually useful to the intelligent engadgetmobile audience. Jeez...
Sprint Touch and Mogul get Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrades, totally official this time {Engadget Mobile}

Sprint TV is now enabled for use, and all the other features (EVDO-A, GPS, Task Manager) of the previous ROM update are there in case you skipped that update.
Bill Gates wipes away tears at Microsoft farewell {Engadget}
Jun 27th 2008 9:56PM Kind of disappointed in Bill's final day at Microsoft. The guy and his Microsoftie wife are worth billions, the company is sitting on billions in cash. Wouldn't it have been an awesome gesture to commemorate his 30 year tenure with a huge multi-million dollar give away of Microsoft technology ?! Vista Ultimate software, Office 2007 software, scads of Zunes, Windows Mobile devices, etc. That would've been outstandingly awesome. Instead, we're left with a high school quality self-deprecating celebrity-studded video accompanied by a traditional, though scaled up farewell event.
Lack of imagination. Something Steve Jobs has in spades but Bill can't even buy it. And the company reflects its leader, too bad. As great an influence that Microsoft is, it could've been so much more. Whatever.
This is when American Idol gets boring {TV Squad}
Mar 27th 2008 1:12PM Bring Back Double-Elimination
I agree, and I think the contestants would too, I think they're getting performance fatigue. We're certainly getting Idol fatigue ! They should do double-eliminations each week until they get to the Top 5. That would benefit everyone involved.
American Idol: Top 9 Revealed {TV Squad}
Mar 27th 2008 11:18AM Bring Back Double-elimination
I liked Cheesy but he had to go at some point, just like alot of the others mentioned here. At this point almost any of the remaining singers could be dismissed. It's fascinating to watch week to week how Krista Lee Cook manages to dodge elimination. Clearly, she's the prettiest on stage but she's got no performance mojo. And I'm just tired of Carly advertising her painted arm every week, too, she's the remaining "Amanda". She'll be dismissed in the next week or two also.
Thank goodness for DVRs, though, it only took me 15 mins to spin through the 60 minute show skipping all the self-admiration fluff. I just wish they were still eliminating two contestants each week instead of drawing this out for so long, then drop to single elimination when they get to the Top 5.
New Futurama movie coming to DVD in June {TV Squad}
Mar 24th 2008 2:36PM Needs to be Better
The first DVD was so-so, kind of recapping the series for newbies. Also, the artwork was downright poor by today's standards. The color saturation is astoundingly dull and the flat-animation is so '90s. I'd have like to have seen them graduate to 3D solids with vibrant color ala Jimmy Neutron or Tak and the Power of JuJu. Compared to these, "Benders Big Score" was really bland.
So, the second DVD needs to improve upon its visual esthetics otherwise it's simply a bland continuation of the v1.0 of the series. And we've seen enough of that animation style via all the reruns.
