EU slaps Intel with three more antitrust charges {Engadget}

Jul 18th 2008 12:43AM OK, some I'm going to put this on the table first I currently have an AMD system, but its starting to show its age and my next system is going to be in Intel system. That being said if and only if all of these charges are proven then Intel is in for a world of SHIT and the reason for this is because AMD will be able to file suite against them for lost profiles and other BLAH, BLAH, BLAH stuff.
Yes I am aware that it would be a little late in the game but with the extra cash they could win from all this they would finally be able to build new FAB's and expand R&D. Yes it would take a few years for the consumer to see any changes in market share but it would give a nice jump start. Sure Intel can and will fight all of those charges but if anyone can get them to stick its the EU so only time will tell..

GSM Association votes to support LTE {Engadget}

Nov 15th 2007 7:16PM JUST AND FYI - VERIZON WIRELESS is currently looking into testing both LTE, UMB and is even considering WiMAX. Since at the time LTE was really the only approve 4G wireless technology it seem like a sure bet, but now that UMB has been approve its a whole different deal. When these two different technologies hit the main stream Qualcomm, Nokia and who ever else will have Hybrid chips to support both so it wont really matter what a service provider rolls out.

AMD to launch Phenom on November 19th? {Engadget}

Nov 6th 2007 12:18AM OK I'll say this first I'm a bit of an AMD fanboy all the way back to the K6-2, but Intel as of late has been putting out some nice chips. Unless Phenom is something that we haven't seen before then no one will really care. This is for a few reason 1 AMD can't build enough chips to flood the market like Intel. The silver lining to this whole this is if AMD wins its care against INTEL then they will have to pay out the nose to AMD. The only issue is even with all the money AMD could win it would still take a few years to build out new Fab plants. So Intel still has a leg up on AMD...

Sprint Nextel agrees to start unlocking phones {Engadget}

Oct 26th 2007 6:07PM WOW.. This is one of those looks great on paper, but whats the point Verizon Wireless wont activate a sprint phone on its network to many fail safes in place, and since that whole e911 push all ESN / MEID's have to be loaded into a special system in order for them to be activate. The next thing is that some if not all the CDMA providers will start using some type of internal software to randomly generate lock codes that why the phones cant be used on another CDMA service providers network..
If the US where anything like Europe where they all use GSM and the phones are compatible because most providers offer all the same features I'd say have at it, but that's not the cause VZW uses, BREW and Sprint uses JAVA. You know that some phone tart will call Spint when the Verizon Wireless phone they bought doesn't work. Like I said this looks good on paper but so do alot of things that never work out..

TiVo Series3 and HD FINALLY get TiVoToGo, MRV, eSATA drive, other new features {Engadget}

Oct 23rd 2007 7:53PM Ok, here is my small problem I currently have a S2 Tivo and I can do that whole lifetime transfer BS. My issue is that Tivo's big selling point was that hey you can record a show when your not at home. Since most channels have some type of on demand or you can watch the show you miss on the internet like NBC.COM or CBS.COM is it really worth it anymore to own a DVR? I guess I just cant really justify spending $600.00 when I dont even own a HDTV. Everyones advice is welcome I guess I should also say that I'm thinking about building a Media PC next year. Some pro's and con's would are welcome.
