Ethanol-free gas a hot seller in Florida {Autoblog Green}

Jun 20th 2009 10:47AM Leave it to people to go nuts about ethanol and not realize that they are doing more damage than good. In order to reduce emissions MTBE was used as a gasoline additive. Turns out it also does a pretty good job of contaminating local water supplies. So the solution of course is to add 5-10% ethanol as your additive of choice instead. Therefore, by buying ethanol free gasoline you are either using MTBE and contaminating the ground water, or using no additives and thereby increasing smog. Florida is usually a little lax on air regulation, so I don't know if they have phased out MTBE entirely.

Gas with ethanol getting the cold shoulder {Autoblog Green}

Jan 12th 2009 3:53PM Correct. MTBE is outlawed as a gasoline additive, with ethanol being the standard substitute for it. I don't know what the heck this gas station thinks its selling, as I am pretty sure it is illegal to sell gas in NY with MTBE or with no additives, not to mention potentially more harmful to the environment in either case.

SK Telecom effectively taking over Helio {Engadget}

Nov 10th 2007 11:36AM Well if you ever want a lesson in how to flush millions down the toilet I think Helio should be the case study. Great products, good cell service, and the industry's WORST customer service. I literally spent 4 months with these maniacs trying to resolve my situation. I basically ported a number for less than 30 days and switched back, but due to a customer service rep outright lying to me it rolled over the 30 days and they wanted to charge me $400 for early termination and a phone which I had already returned to the store. After explaining this to one manager, who did her job very well, I was given a full credit only to have it later denied by billing. When I asked to speak with billing they had no clue what their number was or even where they were located. After that I reported their asses to the FCC and BBB. Finally after 4 months I was sent a check and even ended up making $50 after all was said and done. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH HELIO!

Helio Drift hands-on {Engadget Mobile}

Helio only has one official store as far as I know, which is in Santa Monica. All the stores listed on the website are third party companies selling their phones. They are color coded, so you can immediately tell what type of store it is.

Helio Drift hands-on {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 11th 2006 1:19AM For the guy cancelling, keep an eye out for a contract update. I see people posting about them from time to time. Essentially the wireless provider updates everyone's contract and sends out a notice giving you 30 days before the new contract goes into effect. Obviously they don't legally have a right to change your contract without your consent, so if you call in time you can get out of your current contract by saying you don't agree to the new terms and conditions. They usually try to give you some kind of a discount, but if you stand your ground they have no choice but to let you out of the contract.
