Spy Video: Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake caught on camera phone? {Autoblog}

Jul 9th 2009 2:02AM Could be a prototype from some of the coachbuilders located in northern Italy.

Didn't Stola (www.stola.it) do a Boxster-based special some years ago? I believe it was called the GTS. Why not create a mid-engined breadvan to show off your coachbuilding skills?

BMW wants 2018 Winter Olympic in Munich {Autoblog}

Jun 19th 2009 9:36AM @Sea Urchin: This is the most ignorant comment I've read in a long time. It's like judging US anti terror and special forces by the miserably failed attempt to free the US hostages in Iran (Google Operation Eagle Claw).
The situation was completely different back in 72 (almost 40 years ago): International terrorism was still a nascent movement so Germany had no police or military special forces dot deal with these situations. This changed radically in the aftermath of 1972 with the foundation of GSG9, which proved their efficiency as early as 1977 with the liberation of the kidnapped Lufthansa plane in Mogadishu.

Secondly, the so called leftists in Germany who despicably helped the terrorists by supplying video footage of police operations were members of the communist East German GDR delegation, a state which ceased to exist in 1990 as even you may have heard.

Criticism is alright, however all your comment does is bolster the impression of American ignorance when it comes to events that are outside the US.

The situation was completely different back in 72 (almost 40 years ago): Yes there were many blunders, however international terrorism was still a nascent movement in the early 70s so Germany had no police or military special forces to deal with these situations. This changed radically in the aftermath of 1972 with the foundation of GSG9, a special force which first proved their efficiency as early as 1977 with the liberation of the kidnapped Lufthansa plane in Mogadishu and is among the best anti-terror forces worldwide.

REPORT: Auto Union name could be revived with Porsche-VW merger {Autoblog}

May 15th 2009 4:14PM @FSM:

I've never said an Autoblog writer shouldn't be allowed to state an opinion. It's their Blog. However, why shouldn't commenters be allowed to say so, if he disagrees with that opinion or thinks that a comment was needlessly sensationalist?
This is the comments section after all...

Ramen, may you be touched by his noodly appendage!

REPORT: Auto Union name could be revived with Porsche-VW merger {Autoblog}

May 15th 2009 3:14PM Yeah, great reasoning there Autoblog.

Maybe you guys should also tell Mercedes to change their name, you know because of the evil silver arrows. Or Volkswagen. Or Ford, for that matter, as they provided trucks for the Wehrmacht.

It must be hard trying to find a controversy in everything...

May 15th 2009 3:07PM Actually, Audi is the latin translation of 'Horch' which means "hear!". In 1909 August Horch was forced out of the car company he created himself and in 1910 founded Audi as a competitor, using the Latin translation to mock his adversaries at his former firm.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Pullman drawings leak from European patent office {Autoblog}

May 4th 2009 9:38AM This is nothing new for Mercedes. From the 50s up until to the end of the W124 production run in the early 90s Mercedes officially offered stretched, 6 door 8-seater versions of their middle-class product line. Most of these were used as Hotel Taxis etc. before being shipped to the middle east and used as Taxis there.

Actual production for most of these cars was done by Binz, a coachbuilder located in Lorch near Stuttgart.

DetNews columnist warns of the dangers of nationalizing GM {Autoblog}

Apr 29th 2009 5:06PM @Richard:

The fact that you equate Paris (free market economy) with Moscow or even Havanna (one of the last true communist holdouts in the world) instantly disqualifies your comment as a brainless talking point.

Detroit 2009: MINI Cooper Convertible chills out {Autoblog}

Jan 12th 2009 4:18AM Yeah, that was true for the last generation Mini. It was also the weakest part of the whole package. The new engines were constructed in cooperation with Peugeot and have now thankfully arrived at current state of the art levels in term of NVH, economy etc.

I don't know why you're complaining. You're Macbook seems to fit your trolling needs quite well...
