Yashica debuts EZ F521 digicam / webcam / snoozefest {Engadget}

Oct 7th 2009 4:02PM The body is reminiscent of the old Yashica GS series of fixed-lens rangefinders. You could buy one of those for about $50 right now and it will deliver incredible images. The lens on those things is amazing, I think it's a 45mm/1.7 and sharp as a tack, and it has aperture priority. Manual focus. They're great old cameras. As to this thing, looks cool, but I don't know.

Leica M9 and X1 leak out ahead of schedule {Engadget}

Sep 2nd 2009 1:07PM There's a lot of debate about the X1 on various camera forums. Most of the consensus is that this is either a design study or a render/photoshop.

T-Mobile Sidekick LX 2009 video hands-on {Engadget}

Apr 22nd 2009 3:48PM I had t-mobile for years and went through 3 versions of the sidekick. Here's my experience - customer service was awesome. The OS on the device is great, but the hardware was always lacking (bad screen, crappy camera). For the OS, it seems like they always thought of everything, it was very user-friendly. On the hardware plus side, once you learn the device, all the buttons become second nature and it's easy to multitask on it. I hate their whole app store approach. Paying monthly for things like RSS (and myspace IIRC) is a crime. But the stock AIM and email apps were nice (browser blew though). I switched to AT&T who has comparably awful customer service (especially in the stores), but i wanted an iPhone.

Epson's R-D1x digital Rangefinder locates our analog hearts {Engadget}

Feb 27th 2009 11:24AM You have zero idea about the differences between your G9 lens and pretty much any m-mount (or thread mount) lens.

Two Olympus Micro Four Thirds cameras rumored for soonish release {Engadget}

Jan 28th 2009 2:08PM Well, this is not a true rangefinder, it just vaguely looks like one. The only true digital rangefinders are the Leica M8 and the Epson R-D1.

iPhone activation servers back online; stock updates from around the world {Engadget}

Jul 11th 2008 6:03PM AT&T store on Boylston is sold out. Apple store still has stock but there's a huge line, maybe 100-125 people. It's going around the block.

Hands-on with Sigma's DP1 {Engadget}

Feb 1st 2008 9:55AM I think this is a great idea, but a 28mm (35 equiv) is too wide and f/4 a tad slow. Also, apparently the ISO only goes up to 800. So this will be great for sunny days, less so for anything else.

Gateway One all-in-one desktop breaks cover {Engadget}

Sep 26th 2007 3:26PM It's the Jay Leno of iMacs.

MacBook Pro 12-inch ultraportable rumor resurfaces {Engadget}

Jul 11th 2007 11:49AM I've been on the fence about buying one of the old 12" powerbooks on fleabay. For what they are going for (600-700), it's tough to beat for a small mac laptop. But maybe I'll hold out. What I really want is the modern version of the old duo - very small, 10" screen maybe. Something ultra portable.

iPhone rate plans revealed, at-home activation announced {Engadget}

Jun 26th 2007 11:02AM Yeah, the sidekick is the best deal going in data, I think. For ~$70 month I'm totally covered for voice and data. I'm really tempted by the iPhone, but the lack of IM is a big drawback for me.
