TrueMotion 3D enables true motion control {Engadget}
Nov 26th 2008 3:26PM Interesting that you mention using 3D goggles with this tech. I saw a demo of this exact thing at SIGGRAPH in 2004, and they used VR goggles, and it was freekin awesome. They also had this system working with a early version of the 3D monitor technology, and it wasn't as fun because that monitor required you to stay in one spot to see in 3D, and that didn't work so well with gesture technology.
But yes, VR goggles + this tech = super nerd win. Not so practical for the home, or even work environment, but great as a tech demo.

Nov 4th 2008 5:42PM I'd love to see more mutant-rights initiatives on the ballot. For example, currently mutants are treated as second-hand citizens, not able to make their own decisions in areas like marriage, environmental policy, and economic legislation. With every mutant being considered as having half a vote, despite being a majority they still have fewer electoral votes than "normal"!

Fanswag: Mega Fable 2 giveaway [update] {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Oct 23rd 2008 3:10PM You know, I've been specifically NOT following Fable II coverage, because I'm planning to play it entirely by ear and I don't want to have any preconceived strategy to follow to maximize my experience.
My natural inclination is to be a goody-two-shoes, a teacher's pet, and make everyone like me. So, I'll probably start out like that, as a true hero. But after a while, doing good could get a bit... bland. If that happens, I'll reverse course and jump to the dark side, probably selling out my comrades at the same time.
Now that I think about it, though, if the rewards are worth the effort and it's still fun to be a good guy, maybe I'll just do a head-fake and then come back as even more heroic!
Spy Shots: MINI crossover spotted testing {Autoblog Green}
Oct 17th 2008 5:53PM You mean the Mini crossover isn't being sold yet? I saw one not more than a week ago cruising south on I-5 in Portland. I woulda got a shot of it, but I thought they were for sale already.
Paris Preview: Ford releases more details on the new Ka {Autoblog Green}
Sep 9th 2008 9:32PM Hmmm...
Volvo c30: $24,000 base price
Audi a3: $27,000 base price
It's not the size of the cars that's making those a tough sell. It's the cost/size comparison.
I see a LOT of tiny new cars around here -- Chevy Aveo, Smart (not many, of course) LOTS of Minis, Yaris, Fit. ALL of these brands are quite successful. None of them are the cliche "American" car, but many are made (assembled) in America. The Ford Focus is another great example -- an American small car, very efficient, selling like hotcakes. If Ford was to bring over one of its Euro-centric lines, it would sell at least as well as the Smart or Mini, and even better if it was $15,000. I'd buy it.
"Besides /most small cars on the market/ most small cars won't be profitable." "Few are willing... " "probably the best compromise..." -- nice way to hide a weak argument behind your personal, unsupported assumptions. Next time you find yourself qualifying every statement you make, rethink your position.

Ubisoft sued by Yourself!Fitness dev for at least $26 million {Joystiq}
Sep 2nd 2008 1:26PM I do! I've been using Yourself!Fitness for a while now, and it's got a good mix of progressive exercise routines, and RPG-like unlockables and upgrades as you achieve certain goals. You tell it what equipment you have (if any, all I have is hand weights) and it develops exercises around those. It's got a bunch of differently-focused routines, and recommends new ones based on what you've done recently or you can choose one if you, for example, don't feel like working the upper body today.
There's a monthly fitness test that keeps track of your progress, and you put in your weight each day which helps you keep on track if you're trying to lose weight (like me) although it doesn't have a built-in scale like WiiFit does.
It's got interesting environments (with new ones unlockable as you keep a regular schedule) and the trainer, Maya, is fit without being "sexy" so it's not distracting -- that's harder than it seems. The only thing that I don't like is that I can't cut out certain exercises completely, and some of the fitness tests have artificial limits (i.e. 50 situps is the max it will record) so once you reach the limit you can't keep track of further improvements.
As the demand for Wii Fit illustrates, there is definitely a need and a market for fitness games.
Toyota iQ passes the Edmunds road test {Autoblog Green}
Aug 29th 2008 1:20PM Hmmmmm.... I wonder if this would be expensive to import this from Europe? It's one of the coolest little cars I've ever seen, and hopefully cheaper than a Smart.

Aug 22nd 2008 3:06PM @HotRod... -- Are you sure about the wanting to be eco-friendly? I just assumed that it was to extend the time between refueling stops, since if just one driver can reduce those they'll have won the race.
