Hands-on with T-Mobile @Home {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 25th 2008 11:43PM I wonder if this will drop calls constantly like the HotSpot @Home service does for the UMA phones. I love TMO, but due to poor reception in my house and even worse reception on UMA, I just cannot see staying with them, nor would I want to buy another product that uses the same internet-based gateway as the unreliable UMA service.
BlackBerry service outages keeping your weekend interesting? {Engadget Mobile}
Mar 30th 2008 10:02AM Problems problems problems all day long! Idiot me decided to switch from an 8700 to an 8320 last night...big mistake! Took until later on in the day before the service books ever came in. Was on the phone with TMO for about 3 hours.
I've had a BB since the original 850 pager-style model, but I am really starting to question the premium I pay for it with these continuous outages. I'm glad they at least pre-planned this maintenance, just venting at this point. Hopefully this maintenance will give them another few months of problem-free service, until the next nationwide outage occurs. Figure we've got at least one more this year.
Sprint gearing up to offer $60 / month unlimited calling plan? {Engadget Mobile}
Feb 20th 2008 1:01PM It's about time we start having some pricing competition! It's been over 3 years since there has been any pricing adjustments amongst the national players. Once AT&T Wireless and Nextel were swallowed up, the top three carriers matched each others' price and haven't budged since. It's about time the price comes down.
Round 1: Cingular vs. Sprint on the fastest wireless data network {The Wireless Report}
Sep 21st 2006 1:45PM Cingular's network is very inconsistent from market to market. Some cities it works great, others, it's like begging to be able to make a call. The coverage is poor to fair and specifically in South Florida, the "calls dropped" is higher than ever. Sprint has "good" coverage nationwide, while typically not being excellent anywhere. Indoor coverage continues to be a problem for Sprint. Sprint's customer service, latest pricing and plocies are just plain terrible. Their service continues to drop. Their pricing continues to clilmb. The numbers prove it - only 210,000 postpaid customer additions in the most recent quarter - and that's for both the PCS network AND the Nextel network combined??!! Sounds like customers are responding to Sprint's customer service and pricing by simply leaving all together. It's a shame, because from a footprint standpoint, they are decent, but not spectacular.
It's interesting how Verizon is being completely quiet about the whole thing. And to that point, Verizon is yet to change their traditional pricing. No roll-over, no early evenings, etc. Just plain old high pricing, and they're leading the pact with customer additions.
