Data tethering is a go on Palm Pre {Engadget}

Feb 11th 2009 9:22PM why is it SO unfortunate that the Pre only has 8GB built in when the iPhone is the same capacity-wise. Sure there's a 16GB version too but who's to say that Palm won't come out with a 16GB later on. Seriously...I don't remember not one article complaining of the iPhone's lack of microSD slot but the Pre gets dogged on ever since the specs were leaked.

Predictions for 2009? {Engadget}

Jan 1st 2009 2:24PM anyone go back to 08 predictions and check out hexoDAT64's predictions? They're pretty spot-on for being the second post. After reading the first page of comments on 09's predictions I haven't seen one that's as plausible as his.

And since I'm putting in a post here's my two pennies,

Game consoles: DSi is released in US and takes over handheld gaming, after Valhalla comes out for XBox360 integrating the CPU/GPU next gen xbox rumors start surfacing, PS Home adds more features and attracts more users, Wii sales slow down as people realize it's no longer fun after a couple months, PSP-4000 comes out with fixed interlacing issues other minor features integrated

Computers: nvidia releases Ion platform along with dual-core Atoms for netbooks and they continue to sell well. Windows 7 is released to much fanfare and garners positive reviews from media/users alike. XP is finally discontinued, Vista SP2 is released, Windows 7 is netbooks primary OS, more multi-touch products (netbooks, laptops, monitors) released. OSX Snow leopard is released but after finding it's only an update to stability not many people bother. OSX 10.7 rumors start surfacing.

Mobile: Android takes off as more companies releases android phones, WinMo 6.5 comes out integrates Zune software, WinMo 7 release is accelerated due to popularity of Android. Apple releases updates to iPhone but only software related, first LTE/Wimax devices released at end of 09 with network support only in large cities.

PMP: Zune increases capacity all around, adds lower capacity SSD zunes 64GB and under, becomes integrated with Xbox360. iPod Touch mild refresh, adds bluetooth A2DP higher capacities, entire iPod lineup gets hardware refresh, Samsung P4, Cowon S10 come out for the audiophiles with wifi and either opera browser or run android, mild increase in marketshare.

Microsoft preparing for new layoffs? {Engadget}

Dec 31st 2008 10:21PM I'm with you here. I'm using it (Beta 1) right now on a 3 yr old celeron laptop with all the bells and whistles running and it runs just as well as if it was XP. Check out Orbit30's patches that get rid of that ugly "send feedback" link on all the windows along with the desktop watermark. Can't wait for the RTM so I can start using it full time and get rid of my XP partition. Keep up the good work MS!

Lenovo's ThinkPad W700ds photographed and reviewed {Engadget}

Dec 31st 2008 12:18PM Is it me or does the second display look like it's on a hinge and tilted towards the viewer? Didn't know it could do that (if it can).
