4GB iPod nano 4Gs show up on Best Buy's Canadian site {Engadget}

Sep 21st 2008 5:05PM I think that might have something to do with it but its also possible that they were going to launch all three with just different price points. Or they could of made the switch in the middle of production which would explain why the 4GB are leaking here and there along with the 16. My local store was full of black 16GBers.

Verizon nabs the Blitz: someone has thought of the children {Engadget}

Aug 25th 2008 10:44AM Yeah but then you've got use it pre-paid for 6 months so you can't use it with your normal contract.

I was wanting to get the pre-paid one as a filler phone to use between the dying flip I have now and the BB Thunder/Storm/Lighting/Whatever so I'm glad its availible to post pay people now.

Verizon nabs the Blitz: someone has thought of the children {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 25th 2008 10:40AM Qualified Yay!

I've been looking at this since it was pre-paid. I just want a super cheap QWERTY phone that I can pay full retail for as a go between for my dying flip and the BB that I'm going to buy...

Dell's Zing hopes to rival Apple in ecosystem, launch two players early next year {Engadget}

Aug 15th 2008 5:01PM Mmmm.... Maybe.

It seems like as soon as everyone finally realized it wasn't just the iPod that people were flocking to but the whole "ecosystem" of iTunes intergration they've been taking pot shots at that too. The problem is they have just been pot shots. Zune never really caught on, Best Buy's collaboration didn't really catch on, maybe if Dell really can create a whole new one and get all of the other players to jump on board they might have a shot but its going to have to be an all or nothing type thing. Just one hold out (zune anyone...) and to the average consumer its still going to be just as confusing as the plays for sure was. Unless it gets to a point where you go into a store and its as simple as Mac vs PC for DMP I don't see it being any different then any of the other systems that have tried to take on apple.

T-Mobile 3G service coming October 1 to 27 markets {Engadget}

Jul 30th 2008 5:57PM "WTF? There is no 3G with Sprint. It's a totally different system."

Uh, no. 3G is just short for 3rd Generation. It doesn't have anything to do with CDMA or GSM. CDMA (sprints) would be EV-DO and GSMs (T-mobile) would be UMTS. They're both 3G systems, just different underlying technology.

Back to the Future hoverboard up for auction: $30k to play {Engadget}

Jul 25th 2008 12:24PM No, its an offical movie prop auction. No faking of any kind.

You've got to realize that there were hundreds of these things made (well maybe not hundreds but a lot more then one). Some would of been used for specific shots, like a "floating" prop would of probably been different from a close up prop. Then even within the different types there would be multiples because since its nothing more then painted wood its going to get chipped, scuffed, etc.

Back to the Future hoverboard up for auction: $30k to play {Engadget}

Jul 25th 2008 12:20PM That would be an urban legend.

Zemeckis would often say that the hoverboards were real but that was just because he was just getting so fed up with all of the "how they do that" questions.

No company ever produced a working hoverboard and it wasn't pulled because of poor sales, horrible accidents, or anything else. It was just a cool toy that every kid who saw the movie 'wished' was real and so it was pretty easy to buy into the idea that it was real, you just couldn't have one.

BlackBerry Thunder not ready, disappointing, and kills puppies {Engadget}

Jul 9th 2008 2:17PM And Crackberry fires back...

http://crackberry.com/nerd-fight-thunder-rolls-or-thunder-sucks

"** UPDATE: Well, Boy Genius apparently has taken some serious offense to this post. None intended at all. Myself, CrackBerry.com and the CB community love the BG! Without him we'd have wayyy less to blog about, talk about and dream about. But he's got his inside source, we've got our inside sources, and those sources have conflicting information..."

They go on at the link to insist that their sources aren't just commenters, but also actual RIM employees. They also give kind of a point by point rebutal standing ground on somethings, apologizing for others. It all ends with hugs.

Jul 9th 2008 12:25PM And just like that you've got BGR's response to Crackberry's rebutal:

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/07/09/are-you-really-serious/

No "naming of names" but if it is just a question of actual employees vs. commenters on a blog then you're going to have to give the weight to the BGR report.

Jul 9th 2008 12:19PM Well which one is right?

Does the Crackberry report get "unpublished" because they like BGR more or vice versa?

Its two different sites with two different reports. Just because one is newer doesn't automatically make the other wrong.
