Apple's new MacBook family: non-removable batteries, lower prices {Engadget}
Jun 9th 2009 2:12AM Scrip - if you've ever used a USB-based 3G card, you'll know that it's a pain, space wise. They stick out in ungainly ways and get in the way of your hands and typing. In general, they are ugly ugly ugly additions. An express card can be a little bulky, but not as bad as a USB card. Clearly, PCMCIA options are irrelevant.

Jun 8th 2009 2:40PM Mr. Scrip... how about a 3G card?
Apple's new MacBook family: non-removable batteries, lower prices {Engadget}
Jun 8th 2009 2:38PM Where are the built-in 3g card options? Has anyone at Apple ever tried using these lame USB-based cards? For a company worried about style & design, they don't seem to care at all about the ergonomics of the mobile user. Perhaps they're too worried about the impact on battery life a built-in 3G card might create. At least the Express Card slot was a hope for a low-profile 3G card, but oh, well...

Apr 23rd 2008 6:54PM $1 for the original news source that drove this article... I got tired of clicking backwards somewhere around 7 or 8 clicks in. I believe it may have started from a 29 Mar post on something called Red Ferret. http://www.redferret.net/?p=10222. But, this wasn't news, but rather a mini notes-to-self book report. Nothing new about the Slingshot on his DEKA Research website, http://www.dekaresearch.com/. In other words, no new news here, and none since his appearance on Colbert. Amy I missing anything? I'd love to learn more...

Mar 13th 2008 12:59PM No way the battery has that capacity. Lithium content density would require a much much larger battery to get 16800 mAh... at 4.2V (on the label), that yields a little over 70Wh. The largest laptop batteries on the market right now top out around 96Wh and are much much larger. See: http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=UPB60-CN for a 68Wh battery - 10" x 6.5" x .6".
