Google sets up Android support team in Taiwan {Engadget}
Mar 13th 2009 10:11AM Nice to see how one of the most profitable US companies in 2008 is helping the US economy by creating jobs abroad. Fuck you Google.
Microsoft insists it's not making a phone, rumored to be rebranding WinMo to "Windows Phone" {Engadget}
Feb 6th 2009 12:39PM Looks like the new Microsoft strategy: instead of improving the products, keep renaming them to confuse unsuspecting customers so they'll think they're getting a completely new product. It's really amazing how little they've improved WinMo since 5.0 which was released when, 5 years ago? Frankly I can't tell the difference between my old Dell Axim X30 and my updated Sprint Mogul running WinMo 6.1 besides a few minor tweaks.
Callpod's Drone Bluetooth adapter turns your Bluetooth headset into Skype's best friend {Engadget}
Nov 14th 2008 10:27AM @Cathal: who told you the bluetooth headset wouldn't work with a Mac or PC? I have over a dozen models and have yet to find one that wouldn't function with my Mac and my PC laptop. Of course on Windows it can get a little tricky because you get your "choice" of Bluetooth stack vendor, and some are more capable than others.
In terms of range, the 100m range is typical of a "class 1" device (most devices are class 2). You can only achieve this range between two devices of the same class.

Nov 11th 2008 6:05PM Funny that the DTVPal actually works in NTSC.
Pioneer Inno XMp3 reviewed: great, save for reception hiccups {Engadget}
Nov 9th 2008 4:49PM These things have horribly spotty reception -- I find it much more convenient to use my cell phone and its unlimited data plan to listen to satellite radio over the internet. I rarely get any interruptions of service, and it works inside buildings, trains, etc...
Microsoft placing "I'm a PC" recording booths outside Apple stores {Engadget}
Oct 31st 2008 2:45PM When you control 90% of the desktop market and it used to be 95% just a couple of years ago, customers don't want your latest product, and all your attempts at finding new markets fail, you may not be desperate, but you're certainly nervous.
Microsoft placing "I'm a PC" recording booths outside Apple stores {Engadget}
Oct 31st 2008 1:42PM Whoa! There's no way they'd be doing this if Apple wasn't seriously starting to get them worried. And who could blame them, within a year Apple has completely demolished their stronghold on the smartphone market, Vista is tanking...

Road to G1 has been a three-year endeavor for Google, HTC {Engadget}
Sep 25th 2008 7:57PM Twice the amout of time it took Apple to design the hardware and software of the iPhone, and all they could build is this atrocity? EPIC FAIL doesn't even begin to describe it.
T-Mobile G1 launch day roundup {Engadget}
Sep 24th 2008 12:58PM Nice nerdphone, if you're willing to put up with T-Mobile's spotty network. Their lousy coverage does not command the high monthly fees. Don't worry about the 1GB limit: it's highly unlikely you'll ever get enough signal to be able to reach it.
