Not Done Yet: Lutz says 'perhaps' to twin-turbo Camaro {Autoblog}
Nov 16th 2009 10:50PM I'm with you, having driven the CTS recently (today!), the 3.6L V6 it a rev monster, which is weird for a Caddy. Putting two turbos or a blower on it could really help with the low end torque. It doesn't even have to add a ton of high end HP. And as you point out, there's plenty of room for an engine between the current 305HP and 556HP configs.
It's really weird that Caddy, a company associated with big lazy V8s is offering 3 high-revving V6s (two in one and one in the other) and a turbo V6 in their biggest selling vehicles.

Nov 16th 2009 10:45PM I'm not sure where the SIDI V6 fits, because they could offer a 290HP LNF if they'd like (just requires a flash upgrade and premium gas).
Facebook for PlayStation 3 'begins' this Thursday with firmware update 3.10 (video) {Engadget}
Nov 16th 2009 9:27PM You can already do Facebook and Twitter updates on the PS3. What kind of additional competition were you looking for?
Pick the machine you want, but if you select your machine based upon Netflix streaming, you're making a big mistake. The material via Netflix presented on either platform is neither awesome in scope or quality. And you can stream it to your PC for free.
More on the trouble at Aptera, cash may be running out {Autoblog Green}
Nov 16th 2009 8:20PM Where did I say it's ugly?
The key is it's not a practical car. If you haven't seen it in person you wouldn't necessarily know this.
And this is before the issue of people who want to own an EV but cannot because they cannot charge it at home because they can't get 220V to their carport/parking spot/apartment garage. This really put a hurt on the EV1, why do you think it won't hurt Aptera?
REPORT: C/D says Lutz confirms Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon {Autoblog}
Nov 16th 2009 8:13PM With the markup on the Caddy wagon, they can afford to only sell a few. It's basically $5K more than an equivalent sedan. That'll cover the short production runs.
I almost bought one today. Might do so tomorrow.
BREAKING: GM to begin repaying $6.7 billion in U.S. loans next month {Autoblog}
Nov 16th 2009 1:02PM They're not receiving any welfare right now. That ended a few months ago.
I'd have let the Wall Street companies fail before I let GM fail.

Nov 16th 2009 12:18PM People who paid $500 aren't going to convert to buyers at any appreciable rate. They put that down mostly sight unseen. And when you see and drive the car, you often change your mind, even with a car where you largely know what you are getting. And this isn't one of those.
Heck they'd lose half the people just because the buyers don't have any way to charge it at home and no way to install it either.

Nov 16th 2009 11:10AM Selling 60% of a company isn't the same as dropping 100 shares.
When the majority shareholder in a company sells shares, they tend to drop the value like a rock.
I do agree it is theoretically possible to get all the money back (the magic of equity financing) but I don't think it's likely.
And your argument that they can get the money back is predicated on the assumption that the share of the company that the government owns ever becomes worth what they paid for it.
And btw, thanks for the correction, I'm not trying to change my original statement here, I realize I misstated the situation and spoke poorly.
REPORT: Lutz says next Chevy Impala to stay front-drive, gain hybrid variant {Autoblog}
Nov 16th 2009 11:02AM This seems like a smart move to me. As much as I may like performance, the Impala is a workhorse, Right now it is a very good, economical car and it rolls up the miles no problems since the platform is quite mature. If the current vehicle has a better interior it'd be a slam dunk. And now with Ford moving the Taurus upmarket away from the Impala, it makes more sense to stay low and not chase it, at least to me.
I'd love to see GM offer RWD cars in this space too, I guess that's what Cadillac and Buick are for?
BREAKING: GM to begin repaying $6.7 billion in U.S. loans next month {Autoblog}
Nov 16th 2009 2:00AM I can't really see them repaying the whole thing. Maybe a token amount, but that's about it.
