REPORT: Ford Kuga could come in Lincoln, Mercury flavors, replace Escape, be built in USA {Autoblog}
Nov 2nd 2009 7:44PM Did everything on planet Earth shrink or something?
"Just below the Explorer was and is Ford's little truck (which is no longer little) the Escape."
How is the Escape no longer little when it is exactly the same size it has been since day one of it's existence. What you think the current Escape is anything more then a previous escape with some modest changes to the sheet metal and a new dash? The escape did not grow an inch in 2008, it just got a freshened face and new tail lights.
Dodge Ram CEO gets interviewed, reveals tough job ahead {Autoblog}
Oct 16th 2009 5:38PM Some one needs to tell the people at Fiat that as part of the "New Dodge" transformation in 1992, Dodge adopted the RAM as the center of it logo and essentially it's corporate identity.
So what? A new Dodge logo without the Ram?
How smart are these Italians to not notice that the Ram is currently the product identifier for the entire Dodge brand?

Oct 1st 2009 11:49AM Allison Scagliotti is hot as hell, but that show just sucks.
The writing is so bad, the characters are so poorly conceived, shallow and stereotypical that even when the writers try to put them in peril or add interesting background elements to get people to from an emotional attachment for them it comes off as silly.
Neat idea for a show with lots of potential, but the actual show is trash

Tokyo Preview: Subaru Hybrid Tourer looks ready to take flight {Autoblog}
Sep 30th 2009 1:01PM This surely is a sign of the end times, right? I mean, SUBARU comes out with a really good looking concept..... SUBARU!
Dear Subaru,
Whoever designed this concept, please promote them to head of design. Please make this the new face of Subaru. Please put regular doors on this, a more realistic interior in it, and release it! It can be a new line of sexy wagon, apart from the Legacy/outback functional but ugly line.
When it's time to refresh, give Impreza, Legacy/outback, Forester, and Tribeca a family resemblance to this with model appropriate ruggedness or sportiness where necessary and sit back and watch your market share grow.
MP4-12C - Coming to America: McLaren Automotive sets up North American distribution {Autoblog}
Sep 30th 2009 12:24PM The name also sound like it could be another generic Chinese iPod knockoff
Chinese crap electronics with a big white MP4 painted on the front, and some number for a name. Definitely not the kind of name that makes me think - supercar.
VIDEO: The future of car configurators, brought to you on Microsoft Surface {Autoblog}
Sep 30th 2009 11:56AM Neat concept. Would not work in reality.
Here is what would happen: Introduced in the showroom: Car shoppers talks to dealer about price no one paying attention to 6 year old kid of car shopper. Kid throws those click wheel things around and smashes them. This would happen within hours of the device being installed in the showroom.
Needs refinement, and the click wheel things of differing shapes for differing purposes need to go. They would confuse customers who would not instinctively know which one to grab to pull up the menu they want, and they would get lost or broken the very first day. Replace with a chart of gestures beside the surface table instructing users which gestures to use to bring up various menus.

Sep 29th 2009 12:38PM Bluetooth audio is not new to SYNC for 2010, I use it every day with my blackberry in my 2009 Escape. Controls the device right from the steering wheel controls and I never have to take it out of my pocket. Only thing I wish was that RIM would release a new version of Blackberry OS that supported text over bluetooth cause I am sad that my Escapes will read aloud text messages from my girlfriends free SonyEricsson but not my blackberry. That's not Fords fault though as RIM forgot to include the feature in all Blackberries thus far. But, back to the point, Bluetooth audio was was new to SYNC version 2 for '09.
New to SYNC Version 3 for '10 are 911 assist (to make SYNC more OnStar like) and turn by turn spoken directions (which I wish was offered as an upgrade to Version 2 owners like me)
As for the new Taurus, I still do not think it will be competitive. Styling is still pretty conservative and bland. If the Fivehundred was big generic car version 1. This is just big generic car version 1.7 since despite being pretty dramatically restyled is still a Fivehundred underneath the sheet metal.
It's way over what people will pay for a Taurus, it's not great looking and looks like they tried to blend their Euro Kinetic design language with North American Ford Truck design language. It just looks confused and still pretty generic.

Sep 28th 2009 11:27AM Not all cultures assume all men are pedophiles waiting to snatch and kill small children. Only cultures that have adopted feminism have joined the modern day witch hunt. Considering in North America, where there are about 200 000 000 people under 18, and there are approximately 6 cases of stranger abduction leading to murder per year (there aren't many it's just that every time there is one the news wont shut up about it for 3 months), I'd say logically the last thing you need to be scared of is some random stranger abducting and killing a child. Oh, and another fun fact, children who are die as a result of homicide up to the age of 14 in North America, were most likely killed by their own mother. Weird huh?
We lock up 'strange looking' men, but pay no attention to moms who are freaking on their kids at the supermarket, when chances are, mom might kill the kid, and the strange looking guy is just some random person who has no more intentions of harming a child then jumping over the moon. Bottom line, witch hunts based on myths and fears are NOT in the best interest of children and raising children to fear men is teaching them to fear the gender most likely to protect them if they are in any kind of REAL danger like being lost, falling in a stream, getting bullied, drinking something they thought was juice etc....
Sexual abuse of children happens in their own homes by some on they love and trust almost all the time. Oh, and fun fact number 3, the most common form of incest the world over is between siblings, brother sister, brother brother, sister sister.
Educate your self, know the facts, and determine the threats based on what actually happens in the real world on a regular basis, not the extremely rare anomaly that Oprah and CNN tell you is what you need to fear.
