High school Halo 2 tournament quashed by school officials {Joystiq}
Apr 2nd 2007 11:28AM Yea, the issue is not surprising. In high school we were officially not allowed to play halo in the gaming club, for the same reason.
However, you would think that that decision rested with the school, not the police. Pity, but good idea on the parental permission slips.
PSP firmware 3.10 is out {Engadget}
Jan 31st 2007 4:40PM Yep, dark_alex needed to take some things out of the firmware so it would fit on the flash memory (after his additions). The two things removed are korean fonts and the location free player. Sorry man. I don't know of any solutions in the works, but i guess it could be possible to reflash the *.prx. But thats way beyond my experience.
But the more i think about it, if you used DevHook to emulate a firmware version that supports the LF player, it should work.
There's your answer thats not really an answer.
PSP firmware cracked wide open by Grand Theft Auto ... again {Joystiq}
Jan 26th 2007 7:21PM One could say that sony would be loosing "alot of money", but i don't think the problem is as wide spread as it may appear. Homebrew users are shown to actually be a very small portion of the psp userbase. Additionally, many of the abilities of homebrew don't have Sony equivalents (emulation of atari through *any* ps1 game). Lastly, my psp would be gathering even more dust than it is now if i hadn't discovered homebrew. Homebrew got me back interested in the games that are coming out for the psp as well.
A current look at the most well-designed game consoles {Joystiq}
Jan 25th 2007 10:49PM Suspiciously missing from this and all the user submitted lists is the PSP. Sure, its a bit big for a portable gaming device, and definitely too big to use as a media player.
But man, there is no other portable device out that i would prefer to watch movies on than a psp. That screen is godly. (not much of a fan of those umd *&^%'s though...)
World's most easily misplaced cellphone? {Engadget}
Sep 26th 2006 3:53PM So if they can make a phone this small, why hasn't anyone come up with the "headset" phones we see is absolutely every single near-future movie (Minority Report, I Robot). As it wouldn't need a screen, the size could be even smaller than this. Voice recoginition would have to be used for dialing, but that could actually be a plus. Get some good voice recognition software on there and it could read you you're email and allow you to write text messages (well, say them). If there is a market for this phone, i'm sure there is a market for a headset phone.
