Cigarette lighter phone could light up your death sticks, life {Engadget Mobile}

Nokia's N86 8MP now shipping worldwide {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 15th 2009 3:18PM Eric,

The N86 8MP has a better camera and an OLED screen which for now makes it a slightly better feature set than the N96 IMO. I still like the N96 better and am waiting for the lower priced, no tax, free shipping release, which unfortunately has been pushed back from June 25 to June 30th... =/

If you want the traditional "tried and true", non-touchscreen Symbian, this is probably the way to go. My only complaint would be the QVGA resolution screen, which despite the brilliance of the OLED, is on its way to being obsolete, especially for top-of-the-line multimedia/smartphones...

Bethesda: No plans to patch Fallout 3's PS3 ending for end-game play {Joystiq}

Jan 30th 2009 12:27PM All I have to ask is why Bethesda? Why?

I understand you are in bed with Microsoft to deliver exclusive content (hopfully it's a timed exclusive and not a "forever" exclusive), but one measly patch to let us keep going and keep enjoying the game, instead of having us revert to an older save and dodge the last part of the main story line.

For those of us who shelled out good money for your game and actually want to buy and keep playing it instead of selling it back to Gamestop when we are done with it, you should at least fix that part that makes a great RPG like Fallout 3 crash and burn at the end.

Even before Fallout 3 back to the time of Oblivion, as a PS3 owner I've already felt jilted by Bethesda for not having all the cool DLC's available to us, but at least there was no brick wall ending and you did at the very least, eventually provided us with the two largest expansion packs, Shivering isles and Knights of the Nine, bundled with the Game of the Year Edition of Oblivion.

I mean really, you want us to buy your games and not just rent them for a week and or buy it used and sell them back, right? That's why I bought Oblivion and that is why I bought Fallout 3 (or so I thought).

I'm just saying, at the very least Bethsesda should patch the PS3 version of Fallout 3. They don't have to do it in a way that violates whatver "exclusive" deal they have with Micro$loth, just own up and fix the damn mistake that you made, F3 should be open-ended and not closed. It's this kind of BS that makes me wish Van Buren version of F3 was released instead of Bethesda's.

Even Todd Howard F3's executive said as much in his interview with MTV:

http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/01/29/bethesda-plan-for-fallout-4/

So really, no more excuses, just patch the damn thing Bethesda...

Todd Howard's 'greatest' lessons from Fallout 3 {Joystiq}

Jan 30th 2009 11:51AM I finished the main story line at Level 18 a few days back and was kind of pissed that the ending was indeed a "brick wall" ending especially with 2 more levels to go and an inability to legitmiately aquire and use one of the coolest unique laser pistols available in the game.

So naturally I went back to a previous save and am now going back to finish the various side quests and hunt down all of the unique weapons (like the unique sniper rifles, gatling laser, power armor etc.) that I missed out on.

Although I've already did a fair share of the side quests, at least enough to get me to level 18/20, it would have been cool to roam the wasteland and continue on instead of unrealistically leaving the final part of the main mission just hanging like that.

I'm not even going to mention the anger and sense of betrayal I feel that Bethesda, at least for this moment is not releasing any F3 DLC's for my platform the PS3. I guess I should have figured sicne the pulled the same crap for the PS3 release of Oblivion. So now I either have to invest in a gaming PC, get an XBOX 360, or wait patiently until Bethesda finally spreads the love to us PS3 owners (if that ever happens).

I guess we will see...

i465 to be first Motorola iDEN phone with QWERTY {Engadget}

Jan 28th 2009 9:01AM I could have sworn that fugly gray Blackberry iDen had the first QWERTY, unless it had one of those half QWERTYs w/ suretype, which we all know is almost as good as a real qwerty, but not quite...

Nokia aims to expand S60 deployment, or so says the boss {Engadget Mobile}

Jan 26th 2009 12:58PM I'd love to see an S60 OS on an updated 8800/8801 type phone. With GSM quadband at least.
North America hasn't seen any cool top-end Nokias since the Luna and the much older older 8801.
They are really good quality and materials but not as rediculously priced as say a Vertu.

Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1a now available at SonyStyle {Engadget Mobile}

Jan 7th 2009 6:07PM I got a call from the local SonyStyle store this morning saying it's available. It's funny because if they actually had it ready on Black Friday, I would have totally bought it. Now that more than a month has passed and the money that I once had in hand has been long spent, I have to admit that the "early adopter" price of $800 US looks just a bit too rich for my blood.

I'll probably wait until it's down to the $400-$500 range and hopefully by then there will be some option to load a stable version of Android on it. OR I may just wait for the Nokia N97 to hit the US, we'll see I guess. =p

Motorola V3m RAZR musicphone to be available for Verizon {Engadget}

Jun 8th 2006 11:44AM Actually OBEX is a bit overrated. It's conveinient when transferring smaller files like pictures and ringtones (so you can circumvent the fee for e-mailing them to your internet mail through Verizon's service and getting charged 25 cents a pop).

When you are transferring larger files like full-song MP3s the data cable is a little better but it is still slow because it's USB 1.1. The best way to transfer files is using the TransFlash/microSD card directly with a card reader or adapter to a USB 2.0.

Unfortunately Verizon will probably try to find ways to lock out any content that is not provided by them at a fee. I have no idea how the would lock out files from the Transflash/microSD card, but apparently they have already done something like that with the moto V710 that they used to have out.

Personally I have an unlocked non-itunes V3i with T-Mobile as my provider and I'd recommend any phone afficinado to swich from CDMA to GSM when your contract us up because you will have access to better phones.

I can do OBEX (which I rearely use), data cable transfers via Motorola Phone Tools (for working with files stored in the internal memory) and and micro SD to SD adapter so I can transfer files to and from the 1GB card via card reader.

The V3m does have some promise though if you go to a CDMA provider other than Verizon. I hear that US Cellular and Alltel don't cripple the functionality of the V3c, so it may be the same case with the V3m. I'm not sure if it's going to Sprint, but it would be cool if they get a RAZR too.

iTunes 100 song cap hacked to 1000? {Engadget Mobile}

May 9th 2006 12:23PM I've tried this mod from motomodders.net on an unlocked iTunes V3i I purchaced from ibuydigital.com, which had a 50 song cap.

First I had to change the language in MotoMidMan from Russian to English, then I backed up the original iTunes file. Next, I uninstalled the original 50 song iTunes and installed 1000 song iTunes program according to the instructions.

Unfortunately, the phone saw the 1000 song itunes as a corrupted file when I tried to launch it and offered to remove it with a yes/no prompt, so I clicked yest to have it removed, rebooted the phone and tried to re-install the original iTunes file. For some reason it saw reinstalled file as corrupted as well, so I'm guessing there may be somthing wrong with my version of motomidman or that 1000 song itunes file.

I tried to download another copy of the 1000 song limit iTunes thinking it may have been a corrupted file, but it looks like all the mirrors that were link to that original tutorial that were holding the file have been disabled.

I had to back up my phone directory and stuff saved on my the phone flash memory using motorola phone tools and reflash/flex the v3i using a Monster Pack downloaded from planetmotox.net then upload all my stuf back to the phone.

At the moment I still have that stupid 50 song limit. I tried upgradeing using that iTunes Store link that supposedly allows upgrades with smaller limit caps, up to max 100 song limit.

Thus far, clicking the link to upgrade the phone lefitamately through iTunes doesn't seem to respond either.

Sony Ericsson's HBH-DS970 stereo Bluetooth headset with remote {Engadget}

May 9th 2006 9:26AM This should match up quite nicely with the K790 that's hopefully coming out soon. I read that it has A2DP and hopefully it has AVRCP as well so I don't have to reach for my belt clip to change the tunes. =)
