Canon's EOS 7D experiencing 'residual image' phenomenon, fix is on the way {Engadget}
Oct 27th 2009 7:25PM I have to agree with David... If I just dropped nearly two grand for a camera for my profession (which it isn't—I'm just an enthusiast), I'd be guttered to find ghosting in my photos. Or weird lines. Things like that. When you potentially have to blow the photo up to a two-metre banner, any little minor issues could be show-stopping. I'll admit I haven't seen examples of this ghosting, but it isn't doing Canon's reputation any good...
Canon's EOS 7D experiencing 'residual image' phenomenon, fix is on the way {Engadget}
Oct 27th 2009 6:26PM How come all these show-stopping problems only crop up on Canon's most expensive cameras?

Oct 24th 2009 6:10AM Man.. jump up and down, check the weather and the NEWS? Can you imagine the queue behind this thing?
Actually, imagine the catfights that would happen when touchy office ladies have to wait for the person in front to finish reading the news on a Monday morning...

Oct 23rd 2009 6:17AM Especially when its oh-so-precise timing reminds you that, in real life, Vodafone's SMS network is pathetic... where txts can arrive up to a day and a half later (personal experience), or you send one txt and the recipient gets between 2-4... I'm glad I'm using TXT2K and don't really care if Vodafone's charging for those extra, erroneous txts...
In their defence, their performance has become much much better over the last few months. Too bad it took them 4 years and a couple of new competitors to fix it.

Apart from that, the idea and implementation is quite impressive, from a technical point-of-view. Flashy lights are always cool :)

Oct 22nd 2009 7:54AM I think the scan lines might have something to do with the video camera.. like how crts looked on home-video.. at least I hope that's what's happening, because otherwise previous concepts looked much better than this :/
Apple patent application reveals ad-supported OS, desktop Armageddon {Engadget}
Oct 22nd 2009 6:43AM The good thing is, now that Apple's patented it, no one else can use it to torture us!
Let's just hope Apple leaves this one in the "do later" tray forever...
Apple updates $19 Remote, predictably coats it in aluminum {Engadget}
Oct 22nd 2009 5:26AM Cos that's a problem with the iMac.. no amount of revisions to the remote will fix that.. unless they make it attach via like.. I duno.. metallic bonding or something?

Oct 22nd 2009 5:22AM I think someone got it to work using a vanilla USB IR receiver.. I agree tho, how come Apple doesn't have it as an option? Aren't 'professionals' allowed to watch movies on their much-more-powerful-than-imacbooks Mac Pro?

Oct 22nd 2009 5:19AM I found it's actually not too bad.. it works if you can bounce the IR signal off a wall; I once used it with the back of my macbook facing me. Sorta like projector remotes that work when you point it at the wall it's projecting off. And yea, with IR, it's not using any power when unused, yet works instantly with no startup time, unlike when you use BT or RF..
