Palm demos web-based Ares SDK for webOS {Engadget}

Nov 6th 2009 12:42AM @willwhitworth, Oh, come on...can't you see that the best platform is the one with tons and tons of apps, even if many of them are idiotic or just badly written? Oh, wait...that would mean Windows instead of OS X.

No, no, you're right...it's all about fewer, more polished apps. Oh, wait, then that doesn't sound like the App Store.

Wow...quite a quandary you've presented for the Apple fanboy...well done, sir.

Oct 26th 2009 10:39AM It's looking like _every_ webOS device is going to have to have that rather aesthetically unappealing blank area below the screen (for gestures). That's a pity...you could get more screen on there if you didn't need that.

Bang & Olufsen BeoCom 5 landline: all the cool kids have one {Engadget}

Oct 21st 2009 10:18AM I was gonna say...way to put the geek blinders on and ignore the fact that the vast majority of households in the US still have a landline.

From the CDC: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhis/earlyrelease/wireless200905.htm

You'll notice that roughly 80% of adults live in households with a landline, and only ~18% have cellular-only phone access.

While the trends do suggest we'll get there eventually, cellular-only as a norm is far from reality today.
