HTC Herald gets its HTC branding: the P4350 {Engadget Mobile}
Nov 20th 2006 3:49PM This is a Wizard replacement, not a Hermes/TyTN successor. As such the lack of 3G signifies a cheaper price point for a lower rung in HTC's product hierarchy.
Cingular debuts Sierra Wireless Aircard 875 {Engadget Mobile}
Nov 20th 2006 3:47PM This is not Cingular's first UMTS/HSDPA card -- the Aircard 860 has been available from Cingular for over a year...
Cingular teaming with Napster and Yahoo to roll its own music service? {Engadget Mobile}
Nov 1st 2006 11:04AM This is a really dumb idea. It's like tying a bunch of rocks together to see if they'll float. Until these guys can develop a truly compelling offering (and I doubt they're ready to do so), they're going to continue to remain a very far distance behind Apple/iTunes/iPod.
It seems a much better strategy to partner than to compete... Maybe they just like losing...
i-mate's JASJAR redux, the K-JAR {Engadget Mobile}
Oct 25th 2006 9:29PM What is i-Mate thinking? They continue stepping backwards. Yet another awful non-HTC device. They won't be in business much longer at this rate...

HP iPAQ hw6940 hits retail channels, finally {Engadget Mobile}
Sep 8th 2006 11:42PM I would have purchased two 6945's if this unit had been available six months ago.
HP recognizes they are extremely late in getting this phone to market. ..You need look no further than the remarkably low price of $599 for an unlocked/unsubsidized phone for your proof point. $599 is Cingular's typical starting price for a new high-end PDA Phone, which suggests that there is probably a lot to the rumors behind a serious rift between HP and Cingular as well...
HP's failure to add UMTS/HSDPA support in spite of all the delays suggests that this phone will have a very short lifespan...
All the delays have given Palm a chance to get back into the game with their soon-to-be-released GSM 750.
Sorry, HP, but you blew it!
Cingular 8525 (HTC Hermes) in the wild {Engadget Mobile}
Aug 30th 2006 6:16PM Although I'm glad to see that Cingular might actually be moving forward with this phone, I'm certainly glad I bought a TyTN!
Having Cingular's support for the device will make it a lot easier when calling Cust Svc ("No, I have an 8525...")
Star Trek, hw6900 series coming to Cingular next week? {Engadget Mobile}
Aug 2nd 2006 3:54PM For months, Cingular has had the 6925/6920 listed on their rebate forms. This is what prompted my pointless calling campaign back in April/May to Cingular in search of just such an upgrade.
I would not take their merely listing the device as any evidence of an imminent launch.
On the other hand, I certainly hope they do launch them, but they're about a year late and $500 too expensive...
