How would you change Nokia's 5800 XpressMusic? {Engadget}

Apr 26th 2009 7:32PM Proper use and integration of the "Destinations" preferred access point function.

Currently only a couple of the inbuilt applications that require internet access utilise the Destinations function which allows you to specify your preferred order and grouping of mobile internet access points such as Wifi first (if available) Then 3G if no wifi can be found.

A great example of this is the Contact Home Screen Feeds function, this can only access the standard Access Point controller thus must be set to a single access point only. This means that if you are at home or work with wifi available it simply won't make use of it unless you edit the feeds settings and specify wifi. PAINFUL!!

The ability to legacy applications to also utilise Destinations as the default Access Point controller would mean that all apps could make use of this great feature without any software updates.

I guess this is the sort of polishing that Apple is a stickler for and which makes the iPhone so attractive.

Skyfire v0.85 supposedly available for worldwide consumption {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 26th 2008 5:55AM Hi Darren,

Peachy it is! I have now successfully downloaded and installed Skyfire without authentication on both a Nokia N95 & E71 here in the great land of Oz!

Let me tell you, Opera has its work cut out for it keeping up!

Cheers and thanks for the mention!
