CE-Oh no he didn't! Part LXI: Acer chief says Japanese PC companies "the weakest today" {Engadget}

Really? Even though my desktop is rocking a quad core with 8 gigs of ram and a couple terabytes of storage in a raid array, I find that my Samsung NC10 suits me perfectly in class and on long business trips. It is light weight, easy to carry, and the 7+ hour battery life blows the crap out of dual core centrino based laptop it replaced. I wouldn't want to encode HD video on the thing, but I can play it back without so much as a stutter, which is very handy on those long flights.
As you can see, I'm the definition of a power user, and the standard netbook works for me exceptionally well. While I wouldn't recommend the 10.1 inch screen to someone who had poor eyesight, the fact that I can respond to your post while waiting for my connecting flight in the C concourse of SeaTac is proof positive that this is a very usable platform.
Three million people played Dead Space {Joystiq}
Jul 7th 2009 5:34PM I blame that damn asteroid busting level. I wanted to go back and play Dead Space on the hardest setting, but after two days straight of trying to pass that GD asteroid level, I threw the controller across the room and gave up.
When games stop being fun and turn into a chore, that's when I lose interest.
Samsung's XL2370 'highest performance' 1080p monitor goes global in August {Engadget}
Jul 6th 2009 3:14AM Why is red the only "Touch of Color" Samsung can give their monitors? Why not let the user pick the color that best suits the decor? Not like it would be all the expensive to allow more then one color. Alpine has been offering that in their higher end car audio head units for a decade now.
Archos 9 tablet gets priced in the UK {Engadget}
Jul 5th 2009 6:16AM Bought one for my dad for inflight entertainment. It plays divx videos, supports drag and drop file transfers, and works as a dvr with optional dock. It also supports iso files, so you can rip an entire DVD and play it back as if the disc was actually in the unit. It also supports wifi, with a decent Opera browser that let's him check his hotmail and sports scores during layovers.
Bottom line: it's high quality, versitile, and extremely easy to use with great battery life. For people who travel a lot
Apple rumored not to renew contract with NVIDIA for graphics chips {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 2nd 2009 4:14PM Really? My 4890 HD card, which runs just a tick behind nVidia's top of the line cards for a hundred dollars less, would beg to differ.
As for this whole story, I find Apple accusing *anyone* of being arrogant extremely amusing. Kettle? I call you black.
Best Buy selling 80GB PS3 with LittleBigPlanet and Wall-E {Joystiq}
Jun 30th 2009 12:07AM I'm with IGNfan.... the hell is with bundling shit I either A: already own, or B: have no interest of owning, and telling me it "enhances the value?"
You know what would "enhance the value" in my eyes Sony? Lowering the BLEEPITY BLEEP price!
Munster: Apple to sell 500,000 units of iPhone 3G S this weekend {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jun 18th 2009 4:10PM I think Munster is smoking crack.
The fact that AT&T had to extend the subsidized rate to 3G owners who spend more then 99 bucks per month (and are thusly, their best customers btw) is pretty clear evidence that someone in corporate at Apple, AT&T, or both, is worried that the 3Gs won't sell as well as the 3G did. If the sales are lower, watching Apple try to spin it as a success is going to be entertaining.

Logitech debuts M555b Bluetooth mouse {Engadget}
Jun 17th 2009 6:44PM I'm in the same boat you are. Why did they decide to make this thing such a fugly downgrade?
I guess just making a bluetooth version of the VX Nano made too much sense for the guys in management.
AT&T's free hotspot access finally useful with auto-connection in iPhone OS 3.0 {Engadget}
