Verizon CEO doesn't care about landlines anymore, feels 'liberated' by new outlook {Engadget}

Sep 17th 2009 10:28PM I think it would be nice if all POTS lines were converted to SIP VoIP. It would probably cost a lot less for the consumers who still do use landlines, and, once the PSTN is switched over, it would be easy to attach it to the big telcos' existing VoIP networks. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but that's just my thought.

Dish Network Media Center tuner hands-on {Engadget}

Sep 10th 2009 12:39PM Dropped DirecTV to save money? Hope you like it when Dish starts raising your prices without telling you. My grandparents have the America's Top 100 package. That's the smallest, most basic package. They have one TV running on Dish, the rest are just on OTA. They've been with Dish for a few years and they started out paying $30 a month. Now they are paying over $70 for the same package, they have not switched packages, and they have never had any premium channels outside of the "free trial" weekends. "Why would you ever pay more for TV?" More like "Why would you ever pay more by switching to Dish?"

iPod shuffle 2G is no more {Engadget}

Sep 9th 2009 11:20PM This Shuffle is no more! It has ceased to be!

Sprint 'about to serve up something big' {Engadget}

Sep 9th 2009 11:14PM Sprint isn't GSM. That means, no EDGE. It means you are roaming on either Verizon's or Alltel's network. It's CDMA 1xRTT or EV-DO.

Nokia putting foot down on Maemo, won't allow carrier customizations {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 9th 2009 7:11PM @jim: Fair enough. I've had friends on T-Mo who have had different experiences, but ok. Fair enough.

Nokia putting foot down on Maemo, won't allow carrier customizations {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 9th 2009 6:47PM And I'm not going with a network where I have to pay extra just for a phone that will roam on a GSM network. I'd rather have native GSM/3G UMTS/HSPA.

Nokia putting foot down on Maemo, won't allow carrier customizations {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 9th 2009 6:45PM I would care about this, but it doesn't have standard North American 3G, just that random ass T-Mo band. Low-rank me if you want, but I would rather use a carrier that doesn't roam on AT&T's GSM network and charge for it.

Intel's Lynnfield processors now officially official, benchmarked {Engadget}

Sep 8th 2009 1:47AM Seriously! I need a new laptop and I'm getting sick of waiting for a mainstream mobile processor refresh!

GuidePoint Connect car kit promises to be "OnStar for everyone else" {Engadget}

Sep 3rd 2009 5:52PM What about the other features OnStar has for GM vehicles (stolen vehicle slowdown/recovery, remote door locks/horn, GM Diagnostic Service, etc.)?
