Apple crosses the magical 1% mark in global phone market share {Engadget Mobile}

Jan 30th 2009 1:31PM Amon you are right. Apple does deserve the attention they are getting because of the jump they made this past year.

The only thing that I can see that they did wrong was distribute the phone to one vendor, AT&T. Had they pushed it out to other or all carriers, they surely would have smacked down Nokia and their free phones!

I'm sure I'm like a lot of people who would rather not change their carrier just to get the iPhone...even though the iPhone is smashingly cool!

Side note...Can anyone offer up reasoning why some phone carriers offer up newly released phones at no charge while we get slammed here? Specifically, I know people in the UK that are getting phones like the Storm and Bold at no cost (new service or upgrade) and we end up paying full or close to full amount?

Cheers!

Comcast's DOCSIS 3.0 high-speed internet rolls to Chicago {Engadget HD}

Jan 29th 2009 11:20AM I'm with you Fuzz....I get 30MB down and 5MB up from Cablevision for $49.00.

Cablevision's probable VOOM HD replacement channels: they're all premiums {Engadget HD}

Jan 26th 2009 12:42PM Correct, some of us get nothing. Those that have one of the premium packages will get all the new "HD" channels they released.

Cablevision's probable VOOM HD replacement channels: they're all premiums {Engadget HD}

Jan 26th 2009 12:40PM Cable Girl - Correct me if I'm wrong, Cablevision owns Rainbow Holdings which owns VOOM HD, Sundance, IFC, WEtv, etc. So Cablevision, in fact, does own the VOOM HD channels.

As quoted on multiple sites: The VOOM HD Networks, the 15 all-HD channels available in the US will be shutting down sometime in January. Cablevision who owns the channels announced that due to the loss of carriage on Dish Network that they are shutting them down.

I don't think anyone is pissed at the reps, but the reps do get the brunt of anger. Why? Because the reps are the ones talking to the people. Makes sense right?

Other than people being pissed about losing the 15 VOOM channels, is the fact that Cablevision is only giving 15 channels to the people who have the premium packages. So, for those of us who do not have the premium packages, we get screwed over and get no new replacement channels. And you wonder why people are pissed?

How does Cablevision look at this as being fair to their customers? How do you see taking something away from everyone and only giving back to some as fair and/or acceptable?? It appears that your sense of right and wrong is just as much out of whack as Cablevisions.

Cablevision gets official with 15 premium HD channels {Engadget HD}

Jan 23rd 2009 1:27AM Susie - You have to pay for the premiums. Those of us that don't have the premium channels are getting nothing in return for the loss of VOOM channels.

Cablevision gets official with 15 premium HD channels {Engadget HD}

Jan 21st 2009 4:10PM No complaints from movie buffs??!! How about a complaint from someone that just lost 15 HD channels that WAS included in my cable package?! Now Cablevision expects me to pay more money to get the 15 HD channels back?? Are you serious Darren? How is that not complaint worthy and how is that fair to the subscribers??

Verizon FiOS hasn't made it to my area yet, but when it does...see ya Cablevision!

Cablevision's probable VOOM HD replacement channels: they're all premiums {Engadget HD}

Jan 16th 2009 10:15AM should be "not right" at the end...not "night right". :)

Cablevision's probable VOOM HD replacement channels: they're all premiums {Engadget HD}

Jan 16th 2009 10:12AM Matt** I don't think it's so much about the whining as much about getting screwed over. What they are doing is the equivalent to you taking your car to a mechanic for repairs and instead of getting your car back, you get another car that looks exactly like yours. Oh, but your key can't start the car because it's a different one that you had. And if you do want to start the car, you have to pay me X amount of money every month to keep the car. It's shady and just night right.
