What's New in Windows 7? {Switched.com}
Nov 17th 2008 9:18AM This is something I agree with, since Vista has only been out a brief time and they convinced me to pay to take the dive and pay for it, now I feel like I'm being punished for listening to them. I don't mind having to pay a bit for an upgrade but I don't want to be stuck with one of those crappy upgrade DVDs, I want a straight out version, even if it means sending my current version back.

Nov 17th 2008 9:11AM They can't just fix old operating systems forever you know, sometimes they just need to start from the ground up and if you think you're going to get that in a free online update you're mistaken. The gap between XP and Vista was already the longest gap between Windows OSs by a long shot.
The only reason they're ditching Vista is because of the stigma it's earned after a bumpy start and a bunch of people bitching about it even though they haven't used it in ages.

Apple's lucrative iPhone revenue sharing goes away, replaced with "traditional" model {Engadget}
Jun 9th 2008 10:15PM Apple have sacrificed the kickbacks so that's more money going to the network operators. They didn't drop the price of the iPhone, they simply allowed the operators to subsidise it, which they weren't doing before. Operators can afford to do that now without having to pay the kickbacks.

Jun 9th 2008 10:13PM Apple have got a head start now which they have to use, they've got to get themselves established as the standard company for casual use touchscreen phones in the way that they're the standard for mp3 players. So what if they take a loss now for the sake of more customers, it'll make them more likely to keep customers in the long term. Can you think of any worse companies to have chasing you down than Microsoft and Google? Maybe Blackwater.

Jun 9th 2008 2:09PM Bulk delete and stuff? Big Apple event like this, the first presentation and they're wasting slides on feature updates that most companies would just give a line to in the release notes.
