Nokia N97 hands-on part II: the reckoning {Engadget}
Dec 4th 2008 5:48PM Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't AT&T run on the 850/1900 network for both 2 and 3G? Theoretically this would work here? I've been hitting 3.5G here with N95. If anyone has any insight, this would be great.

Nov 4th 2008 5:45PM Supposedly this might become the T-Mobile/Google G2. Do a search for it. Now that'd be something I'd pick up in the near future. Presuming AT&T/T-Mobile stop crippling their 3G networks...
FCC gives two thumbs up to HTC's Touch HD {Engadget Mobile}
Sep 24th 2008 5:31PM I found that it was going for 519 pounds so that's about 950 some odd dollars. I can't remember where I saw it, but seems about right. Check out http://dechowireless.com for pricing on phones. Seems about right for unlocked, GSM/3G phones.
HTC's Touch HD unveiled in very much official glory {Engadget Mobile}
Sep 15th 2008 3:15PM @tpadekar: I realize I worded that strangely. I was bitching about the fact that there is no real storage space. Omnia has 8GB/16gb. iPhone as 8/16GB. C'mon now. If they want to compete at all, they need to put some bit of storage with or without expandability.

Sep 15th 2008 10:50AM Maybe I'm just being picky, but 512mb of ROM? This is 2008, not 1999. WM6.1 will eat half of that. I realize you can put in an upwards of 32GB of MicroSDHC. So said the spec sheet, but has anyone see such a thing? No Flash? Is it me or does it seem that phone companies are crippling their phones just enough to piss everyone off? Finally, 3G US. Is it REALLY that hard to include with the rest of the 900/2100 frequency? How about Triband/Quadband 3G phones? Then we'd have none of this multiple versions of phones. I apologize for the rant, but I've been on the look out for 6 months for something to replace my N95 8B... maybe I need to lower my standards.
Nokia's N96 gets unboxed on video, looks exactly like you'd expect it to {Engadget Mobile}
Sep 4th 2008 12:20PM I'm sorry, but what did your replies to my post have to with what I wrote? Seriously guys. I'm astounded at the flame wars that people start here. I made no mention of the iPhone or comparing it to any other phone other than it's predecessor, the N95-4. With that being said, My N95-4 is good but not great. It has it's faults, like any phone for that matter, but is it worth to purchase another expensive phone that, to me, is nothing more than a face lift?
Let me say this: the iPhone has great potential, but like any piece of electronic equipment, it needs time to mature. It's 2008 and who seriously still uses a 1.3mp camera? Why would you have an Exchange email account that blows away any other existing contacts you may have? My Nokia is not without faults too. The GPS/Nokia Maps is shoddy at best. Here in Boston anyway. It takes well over 15 minutes to get the moons and stars to align before I can get proper directions. The phone freezes constantly and the signing/unsigning of applications to install applications is beyond aggravating. You make do with what you have but the bitching and flaming is really getting out of control to the point where it's developing a Napoleon complex.
I digressed a bit. Sorry. Had to get that off my chest. Anyway, getting back to what I said, does anyone else see the N96 as nothing more than a very expensive face lift? What actual new features/hardware/software does it offer to warrant the purchase?

Sep 3rd 2008 4:09PM I've been wanting this phone for awhile now, but Nokia too way too long to get it to market and I've now found better options. It's just not that great anymore. I have the N95-4 (8GB) and it's good, but the N96 doesn't seem worth it. The N96 almost seems more of a patch than an actual upgrade of a phone. I think I'll pass.
