Sony's Stringer dismisses PS3 price-cutting threats by noisy Activision CEO {Engadget}
Jul 8th 2009 4:50AM Ok, who cares. I bought his stupid PS3, had for a year and then returned the blu-ray drive replace. I just found it so convenient that they had this massive organize effortless system to fix the PS3s. Hmmm. Like they already knew it was going to happen. Instead of stepping up and admit they installed faulty drives in the consoles in the first place. They went ahead and profit from it charging a flat fee of $150.00 to fix it.
So claiming a price cut will eat up his small profit margin. I guess he hasn't milked enough money out of his consumers yet. Why not concentrate in making great games. So far am not impress with the overall collection of games PS3 has.
FYI. Yes, I know there are some great games...like metalgear and resistance. But there are only a hand full in a sea for 100s of bad and boring titles.

Apr 30th 2009 9:47PM LOL, these commercials always make me laugh. They never compare apples to apples. Excuse the pun. But really look at what she got a Duo 2.0 Gz 16" 4gb HP HDX for 2k. One she paid way too much for that laptop. But anyways, the 15" apple with the duo 2.4 gz with all the same specs is $174.00 more. Man, wow that's such a difference.
It's like asking someone to choose between a Scion XD and a Mini Cooper with a difference of $200.00. hmm i wonder.
I need a shot at this commercial, I would make it where they can do an honest comparison and show a real tight PC build that really can compete.
NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 285 coming to Macs in June {Engadget}
Apr 30th 2009 9:32AM @Kip HT
You just configured the junkiest build...LOL. Plus all your parts are about 2 years old LOL.
Now do the same build with quality parts comparable to a mac pro which were built within a years time. the price should be around between 1800 and 2200. i know because i build PC's everyday.
You are comparing a KIA car with a BMW 300 series. I hate rookies that think they know to build a quality PC. You guys make my job harder. Because am the one who gets stuck fixing the piece of poop when it freezes and doesn't work.
Maybe you like KIAs, But the people that come to me want Benzes or better.

You build me a pc with the same specs and quality parts and I will buy it from you. Because I build PCs for a living and I can't do it.
Apple bites back at Laptop Hunter ads, 'agrees' with Microsoft that Macs are cool {Engadget}
Apr 17th 2009 2:49AM Wow I can't believe all this hate. I actually really think that the ads are not fair to Window run PCs. It only proves that there are people that are happy with inferior machines.
Comparing Bestbuy's HP 17" laptop at $1600 to Apple's basic 17" model at $2700 is like comparing box wine for $6.99 to a fine reserve bottle of wine for $25.00. The Apple 17" laptop has twice the power and better specs so it's obvious that it's more money..
If Microsoft wants to get my attention, why not compare a real PC laptop with the same specs and quality parts as it's Apple counterpart.
The reason they don't do that is because the prices would be basically the same.
The reason am sure of this is because I build media and graphic specific PCs for professionals. SOme like windows, some like mac os...either way, what ever OS they choose the build cost the same.
iTunes Store's new pricing scheme affects the charts, that Lightspeed Champion guy expresses surprise {Engadget}
Apr 13th 2009 3:47AM @Chris Dunning
The average cost to make a CD package: 8 pg 4C booklet with cover art, cd case, the actually cd disc and the recorded songs are between $1.10 to $2.50 each. Then they are sold retail for $10 to $16. Even with this high % markup, it only covers 5 % to 10% of a record labels profits off that Band. It is just fluff money. Concerts, Merchandising and Rights to play the song(s) is where the real money is earned.
Now with Itunes, amazon or any mp3 site, cover art is minimal because it mostly photography and design done in house at the record labels. There is no physical package or cd to pay for. But you still have to pay a $1 for a song or $10 to $15 an album. Plus, you have to pay for the broadband to be able to download it. Keep in mind, Apple makes no money on itunes...most profits go the the record labels. Apple makes money selling ipods.
SO, who is really being screwed in the end here Chris?
BTW i work in the music industry.
HTC Touch Diamond lands tomorrow on Verizon: $299.99 on contract {Engadget}
Apr 9th 2009 11:41AM ScOObyDoo,
Incorrect. First, verizon is CDMA. Second Sprint is the first to get the Touch Diamond in the US and Sprint is CDMA. No Slot. And Third, neither does the GSM version have a slot. if you don't believe me go to thw HTC website and lookup the specs.
Now the HTC Touch Pro does have a MicroSD slot. Anyways, no of this matter cause Verizon has a better phone. the Samsung Omnia and the Blackberry Strom. Which are cheaper too.
LaCie intros 8x d2 Blu-ray burner, LaCinema Black MAX media streamer {Engadget}
Feb 9th 2009 7:46PM BTW, the LaCinema Classic 500GB media player is about $169.00. All LaCie needs to do is combo that with a Bluray drive and sell it on or under $300.00, LaCie may have a product worth while.
