HTC Touch Pro2 calls dibs on 3.5mm audio jack for Telus and Verizon {Engadget}
Jul 17th 2009 7:36AM So unfair, I received my Pro 2 earlier this week and now I'm so envious of those getting this new version with 3.5mm
Third-party iPod shuffle headphones will require Apple-licensed authentication chip {Engadget}
Mar 16th 2009 6:03AM No, what Apple should have done is make it a two piece design, their special buttoned controller attaches to the special 3.5mm hole on the player then the controller has another 3.5mm hole for earphones. Or they could have attached the buttons by some proprietary interface then and charged companies for access to that leaving the earphones out of the equation. My 10 year old cd player has this.

Workbench rant: software annoyances I can do without {Download Squad}
Jan 30th 2009 9:40AM Only thing I can think to gripe about is software registration reminders. The software I got with my lg blu ray player asks for registration at windows start up and every time I load power dvd - I registered with vista but now I'm using 7beta theres no way to disable the pop up so it doesnt bother me again unless I register again. Who's idea was this?!

iriver SPINN hits the streets at last {Engadget}
Oct 9th 2008 7:59AM One thing that irked me about the Gadget Show review of the multimedia players was when they took the spinn out doors - instead of being out doors with it originally like with the touch the radio presenter (forgot his name) took it outdoors for 5 secs and goes "oh yeah thats really poor quality" and took it back in. I generally like the gadget show but they were clearly biased towards the touch.

Sep 17th 2008 7:37AM You should have seen the beta version, it was just a guy under a table dragging a magnet back and forth!
