Verizon's Touch Pro caught on video {Engadget Mobile}
Nov 7th 2008 9:07AM my guess is it'll be required within the system. I finally got one of the reps who came to my office to admit that IT makes restrictions within the system, i.e., why I'm forced to pay $45 for data on my 6700 when someone with a 6800 pays $30.
chances are, all their PPC's are going to be that way from now on.... and let's be honest, it's verizon, they're just going to laugh at you if you threaten to leave.

Nov 7th 2008 9:00AM as long as the hardware inside remains the same (which I'm not sure of, havent compared anything yet), who cares about the software it comes with? with places like ppcgeeks.com you'll have whatever you want.
Verizon killing pay-as-you-go data plans, making other changes {Engadget}
Nov 3rd 2008 9:28AM this wouldnt be so bad if their data plans went down in price along with the requirement. but asking people to pay an additional 30 bucks when they might not've had any data at all is quite a lot, and most people wont want the hassle of switching carriers.
i used my xv6700 for 2y without a data plan. why? because I was at college, surrounded by wi-fi. why the hell would anyone need a data plan?
and now of course i have one, and get ripped off with the $45/month charges. hooray verizon.

Yeah, Duke2 is right. The vast majority of consumers have no idea nor care what chipset is in their xbox. all they care about is "is it gonna overheat and burn my house down?"
also, let's think business for a second here: no company is stupid enough to re-release the same product with the same "visible" specs (hard drive size, hdmi, etc) for a *higher* price. save that "firesale' vocabulary word for another post ;)
