Deutsche Telekom CFO on T-Mobile USA: 'we lost customers because many... couldn't get 3G' {Engadget Mobile}

I'm glad T-Mobile is making a turnaround for the better. I know ATT employees like to bash them but in reality we should embrace competition not stifal it.
DT is really making it apparent they are going to be investing heavily in its US subsidiary.
I always found the company easy to deal with and a pleasure to do business with. I just opened a small business with 40 lines and ported them over to them from Verizon Wireless.
I'm very happy with their local coverage and call quality.
I hope they are serious about a super fast acceleration of their HSPA + 21 Mbps data network. If they can pull this off fast and provide enough backhaul, it will be very competitive with current 4G networks..... maybe even better from what I hear about Clear.

I know there are still a few die hard PTT's out there who will defend the service to the death.
But seriously, even as a construction foreman, we've already moved on to 2010. I can communicate with my crew via mobile phone calls just fine.
I think a lot of older guys out of habit got used to PTT and they convinced themselves that no other communication method is as convenient. A lot of those guys knew how to PTT but were clueless on how to operate a normal cell phone.
Times have changed. Although I do appreciate rugged phones for my guys, the PTT part is no longer a necessity.

Cool. When will T-Mo USA push Donut on the myTouch 3G and the G1 for those of us who don't "root," our Droids?

Sep 11th 2009 3:02AM Does anyone know if T-Mobile's 3G is good in the Hollywood Hills area?
I use Verizon and AT&T and they're both pretty bad up here. I really like this device.
If it had that WiFi calling feature I'd buy one and switch in a heartbeat since I could just make calls using my WiFi network at home.
Very nice looking device and I really like the integrated social networking UI.
Sprint's big surprise to be unlimited calling, data, text, and MMS for $70 (update: official) {Engadget Mobile}

I guess this is cool for Sprint customers who call a lot of people on other networks?
For me though I don't talk a lot anymore. 2 years ago yeah, but now with Facebook, Twitter, IM, SMS, MMS etc, I seem to do everything via text......
I'm hoping one day for a flat rate $ 50 all inclusive plan that allows for unlimited data. By that time, all voice and text will be sent via wireless IP so buckets of minutes and text bundles will be a thing of the past.

All their store employees are ghetto too. Most of them should be selling Boost not anything else. I don't like their attitudes and their poor grammar.
I think their coverage has gotten a little better but they still rely on a lot of roaming agreements if you go outside major metro areas. I think Forsee did that back in the day because people kept complaining about no service all over the place.

Sep 8th 2009 5:55PM Well UMA over 2G hasn't been perfected either. There are so many variables including buggy OS's, bad routers, mis-configured routers, in-home interferance etc......
Sprint developer site claims HTC Hero as network's "first Android device" {Engadget Mobile}
Sep 3rd 2009 1:43PM
I think this is a much sleeker device than the Pre and I'd take Android over Palm anyday. But will Sprint market the Hero against the Pre? Sprint hardly markets the Pre which was supposed to be its flagship phone.

Glad to see T-Mo get into the Tablet game and hopefully soon the Netbook game as well.
They've been the underdog and a little late to the 3G game, but they're catching up at a very furious rate.
I'm tempted to try one of these out myself if it can be priced right. I'm using a Netbook with Verizon right now but I think the network is a bit overcapacity right now since my speeds are well below what is advertised.
HTC support site reveals Hero for Sprint, Snap for Alltel {Engadget Mobile}

@ Steve: Believe me there will be no line for new activations or phone purchases. This is Sprint.
The only line you'll find at a Sprint store is for those trying to pay their bills with cash because they were denied one of those "no checking account required," debit cards or or some other bill related problem. ;-) Beleive me, I work for Sprint.
We were all told to get ready for myriads of Pre buyers but it's still slow as ever. Boost is what is selling hot for us now.
