Samsung Instinct flies off Sprint's shelves at record pace {Engadget}

Jun 26th 2008 3:23PM I don't care what Sprint says. The $99 Simple Everything plan hardly qualifies as a Sero plan. When people think Sero, they think of the $30 or $50 plans. For $100 / month, I'd rather go with the iPhone. AT&T's data network may not be as good as Sprints, but the phone is way better and the plan options are comparable.

The Instinct really was Sprint's last chance to stop disgruntled existing customers from defecting - and with plan requirements like that, I can't imagine them drawing in many new customers, let alone keeping many disgruntled existing ones. What good is the best data network in the states if your phones are crap and the web browsers are garbage?

I don't doubt their ad campaign has made the product launch a success, but once comparisons start flying and word of mouth gets out, I doubt sales will stay so healthy.

Jun 9th 2008 2:35PM Wait... no GPS? Damn... that was the #1 feature on my list, and the only thing that stopped me from buying the last iPhone.

May 28th 2008 2:43PM That phone looks like unadulterated awesomeness. To wit, the HTC Dream is almost certainly never going to land on Sprint. As much as I like my Sero plan, their phone selection is so unbelievably pathetic that there's almost no way I'll be using them by the end of the year. HTC Touch Diamond, Xperia 1, HTC Dream, 3G iPhone... all the coolest phones are on all the other carriers. Cheap plan or no, I deserve a cool phone, and I'll switch to whatever carrier wants to offer it to me.

May 28th 2008 2:32PM Yeah, Sprint is just sucking hard with their phone selection. Every time I see a phone worth geeking out over, I can be absolutely positive that whatever carrier it's going to, it's not Sprint.

Sprint gets slapped with debt downgrade, lawsuit {Engadget Mobile}

May 6th 2008 7:06PM Sprint just sucks. I signed up for their SERO plan two years ago on the advice of a college friend who worked for Sprint. It was actually a pretty good deal, $30 a month, 500 any time minutes, unlimited data, text, picture mail, free A900 phone. Everything was peachy keen until this month, where my bill was suddenly $15 more than usual. Turns out they switched billing systems and all of a sudden I'm being charged for the text messaging and picture mail - and absolutely nobody over there wants to fix it. One of the customer service people even told me that it looked like I've been getting charged for text messaging since the very beginning, although my account DID show that THAT was supposed to be included. So yeah, since my contract is up, I'm all over the iPhone 2 as soon as it hits. With such terrible, unreliable, seedy customer service, and the most pathetic phone selection of all the major carriers - it's no wonder they're in such bad shape.
