Nov 9th 2009 6:23AM I'm too lazy to look thus up, but specs wise, how does this phone compare to any of the newer blackberries(Tour, bold, etc...)? It just seems like with wifi, faster processor, and maybe a better camera though not completely necessary this could be a worthwhile BB competitor.
Verizon takes another swing at AT&T, puts iPhone on the Island of Misfit Toys {Engadget}
Nov 8th 2009 6:37PM That is because before their "droid" offerings they had dick else but a bunch of blackberries, and lg "feature phones". Verizon is starting to come around but their selection of phones really isn't any better than anyone else's.

Nov 8th 2009 6:33PM Clever, makes you also wonder how long Verizon will run their other "iDon't" adds once they realize the moto sholes isn't really much of a success. The real question is how many people will actually leave AT&T for Verizon once the exclusivity runs out and Apple decides to choose Verizon. I for one actually get great service here in Houston. Not a "fanboyish" question but a legit one being asked in general.

Nov 7th 2009 8:07PM Outside of iPhone OS, webOS is my mobile OS of choice. However Palm needs a phone with a larger screen and soft keyboard. GSM versions of their existing webOS devices for the states wouldn't hurt either.
DROID mania sweeps the nation, so to speak {Engadget}
Nov 6th 2009 12:29PM @Bobo, while I agreed it's iPhone vs. the entire Android ecosystem, Verizon isn't necessarily pushing the entire ecosystem as much as they are pushing their one phone the sholes. Verizon as a company has more customers than AT&T but at the same time are losing more than AT&T as well. They are looking at new devices to sway people from leaving their network and moving to others, and I think the droid line is a step in the right direction. However with their backpedaling statement of bringing the iPhone to Verizon is "exclusively in Apple's court,". That to me sounds like their confidence in Droid isn't as strong as they would lead us to believe. Only time will tell as their are some sweet new Droid phones and cellphones in general on the horizon.

Nov 6th 2009 10:48AM Not a troll attempt on any scale, but if you get your heads out of the clouds you will see that I am right. Understood there are enough people outside of the iPhone world that could make this phone a success, and I'm not proclaiming it's demise on day one. However with Verizons "DROID does, iDon't" ads, one might gather that Verizon is simply trying to sway current or potential iPhone owners away from one device and onto theirs. My assumption is simply that many people have recently signed new contracts with any phone, fruit related or otherwise, which may slow the early adopters away from this one.

Nov 6th 2009 10:33AM I hate to say it but this phone won't be a huge success with normal everyday people outside of the tech world. That and most of the iPhone crowd that Verizon seems to be targeting more than likely just grabbed new 3GS's and won't drop their contracts so soon. That and I think for a phone to truly change the game much in the way the iPhone has, it has to do what no other phone on the market is doing. And right now consider any phone with Google maps will get Googles turn by turn maps this phone just isn't it.
