Airplane alternative: Amtrak train travel is a hit with this Gadling blogger {Gadling}
Sep 11th 2008 3:46PM I love train travel, and used to do it quite often when I lived in DC. Now, however, I live in Texas, and rail options are extremely limited. A trip from Dallas to San Antonio, for example, takes 8-10 hours by train vs. 5 by car. Dallas to Houston requires a change in San Antonio, making the total trip over 12 hours vs. 5 by car. The flights? 30-45 minutes (and under 2 hours factoring in airport time).
Dallas to Chicago might be more interesting. It's about 23 hours, and could be factored into the entire vacation plan, but won't necessarily be cheaper than flying.
Snow-rocks (too large to be called hail!) fall in Madrid. In September! {Gadling}
Sep 10th 2008 11:05AM Down here in Texas, golf ball size hail is not that unusual, and softball size hail even happens from time to time. Last spring, it was not unusual to see cars of all types in the Dallas area driving around with severely broken windows due to hail that in some neighborhoods exceeded 3" in diameter.

Aug 27th 2008 10:30AM I've never been fond of Lexmark printers, but this one would let me take one of my 3 printers off the desk.

NFC-equipped phone surfaces at FCC... with Citi logo {Engadget Mobile}
Mar 24th 2008 10:16AM The NFC functionality is the story. Citi is going to offer these things to customers to use as payment devices. They don't want Blackberry users, they are going after your average transit-riding, coffee-buying consumer.
