Aug 9th 2008 1:13AM Beat myself silly over this - uninstalled, reinstalled like 4 times, still only showed 1 analog tuner in VMC.
Then I grabbed the driver from the clearQAM beta plugin -

Ran Hauppauge's "hcwclear" uninstaller utility, reinstalled the 1800 with the beta plugin driver, ran VMC tv setup and it showed 2 tuners - analog and digital, but no signal detected for digital :(
After setup completed the digital channels (looked like QAM channels, 2.1, 3.1, 4.1 etc) were in the guide, but no signal came through.
I'm starting to think that there's a problem with the signal - maybe I need a booster?

Aug 6th 2008 11:51PM Installed over existing Vista Ultimate and it worked (recording in .wtv now) but I'm not getting any QAM channels. I have a Hauppauge HVR1800 on Cablevision in Stratford, CT.
When I ran the tuner setup it only found the analog tuner even though I have coax going into both the analog and digital inputs on the card.
Maybe there's no clear QAM here? How do I tell?

Jun 27th 2008 10:01AM I love my HP Mediasmart. I got the ex470 (1x500gig drive) for $600. I added a 750gig drive I got on sale for $90.
Been working flawlessly for about 2 months now.
It has an iTunes server and a DLNA server so it can stream music, pictures and video to almost anything.
The automatic backups are great as well.
I'm quickly running out of space with three computers, but I have two empty drive bays - just waiting for a terabyte drive to go on sale somewhere...
