ICANN set to allow non-Latin characters in domain names, half the world rejoices {Engadget}
Oct 29th 2009 9:33AM No never set up a web server BUT I know if I type in a web address it brings me there unless I type it incorrectly. When I type in one of my 14 web addresses for either remote desktop or to edit the page... it brings me right to it. THATS waht matters to people who use the internet!
Nintendo profits sink on declining console sales, weak game selection {Engadget}
Oct 29th 2009 9:28AM I had to look up this Ron Jeremy character to see who he was and I'm sorry but he has no place on this website or in a gaming reference. Sad to see this....
ICANN set to allow non-Latin characters in domain names, half the world rejoices {Engadget}
Oct 29th 2009 9:04AM I think you are all missing the point here. Around the world there are many people with limited education speaking only their native tongue. This would expand the internet to their usage. ALL domains are actually numbers, the url you typed in gets translated to numbers and them machine code(binary) and brings you to that website. Native peoples will type in the website in their native characters and the intepreter will bring them to their native language websites. This will NOT affect the rest of the world that is "educated". The peasants in China and other countries around the world who have NO clue about the english alphabet will be able to use the internet! This will truly bring the "world" to them (at least theoretically)

GE VScan portable ultrasound earns the Leonard McCoy seal of approval {Engadget}
Oct 22nd 2009 7:23AM I am a physicain and use diagnostic ultrasounbd EVERY DAY. My unit is the size of a small carry on bag and sits on a cart. THe portability of this unit would make it easy to bring to the remote locations I go to several times a month when I WISH I had a device as small and portable as this!
Ask Engadget: Best iPhone 3G (3GS) alarm clock / radio? {Engadget}
Oct 16th 2009 6:12AM My wife and son use the Sony. Nice, functional but the sound is kind of "blah" I have and Altec Lansing which has pretty good sound for such a smal unit but it is also portable and rechargable. Down side is no built in alarm I use the iphones alarm which is great! I also use the free Kensington Rise and shine app which is great. Phone charges at night and good decent sound.
Verizon removes gloves, begins 'There's a map for that' anti-AT&T ad campaign (video) {Engadget}
Oct 6th 2009 7:19AM I have ATT service and am happy with it. Here in UPSTATE NY I have pretty good service. Have a camp on Sacandage Lake and the service is a little sketchy at the camp but on the Lake it is great, verizon is a little better but not by much. I got an additional verizon phone and I gotta tell ya their phones suck... My parents and brothers and sisters all have verizon so I have thopught about switching many times but I always like my ATT phones better. Family plan with 5 phones. 3 Sony-Ericsson 1 iphone 3g with data (wifes she loves it!) I have the dev phone, and a Palm 650, iphone, Nokia no data on any of them just use wi-fi to synch calenders. I use REAL apps (medical, reference, no games and the iphone wins out every time. iphone works all around upstate and Massachusettes 1 or 2 dead spots for couple of minutes in the mountains or when switching towers. Good when skiing Gore, Stratton in Vermont, Whiteface etc. I used (well tried to) Samsung Omnia on Verizon, sorry but winmo has toooooo much of a learning curve. Verizon nickel and dimes you too much!!! When Android gets better and has the APPS I need the mulit-tasking ability and ease of use will MAYBE win me over from the iphone but for now I swap out every now and then. BTW cant do that with verizon on ATT I just pull out the sim and put it in the other phone.
Palm Pre going for a nice, round $100 on contract at Amazon {Engadget}

Palm Pre falls to $149.99 on Sprint {Engadget}
Sep 9th 2009 5:55AM I Tried the pre nice phone but too many shortcomings... the webos is great however! I resisted an iphone for the past 2 years relying on my trusty but oudated Palm Treo 650. I would have updated to the Pre but the apps that I NEED were not and are still not available. WIN OS is just too hard to use and learn. I got the gphone dev phone ( I need to use ATT) although very nice again the apps I need were not avaialble and I carried my treo around for reference material. As my apps became available on the iphone (my wife has 1 and loves it) I decided to cave and try it. Bought a used 1st gen from someone upgrading to the 3gs. After a couple of weeks I realised how easy this thing is to use. All the apps I need are available and EASY. I do not play games I have reference material calculator google calender, windows calender, and email that is just easy! I am FAR from a "fan boy" and do not have Apple computers but their devices do just work and are easy!
