Apple killing Atom support, dreams of netbook hackintoshers in next Snow Leopard release? {Engadget}

Nov 2nd 2009 9:23AM Bummer. I guess I'll be stuck at 10.6.1 forever on this machine. Oh well, it works a heck of a lot better than Windows (any version).

Ask Engadget: Which Android phone should I get? {Engadget}

Oct 29th 2009 9:22PM I guess my question would have to be, why did you switch to another Sprint device when the coverage was already spotty with your Pre?

Phil Schiller on Windows 7: 'No matter how you look at it, it's still Windows' {Engadget}

Oct 15th 2009 6:59PM Oh like we didn't expect someone to say this eventually. Then all the Windows fanbois come out and start hating on the other operating systems, "Take that you filthy OS X Leopard."

"Suck it Linux! No, but seriously...?" *insert curious grin*

And then of course they'll recoil. There's also the likelihood that at least one of the aforementioned people threw an early jab by agreeing with the post. Either way this isn't news.

Yeah, anyway--that's probably a good summary of what the 391 comments (at time of posting this) are.

Garmin-Asus nuvifone G60 review {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 13th 2009 9:44PM So basically this thing sucks...that's what I got from the review.

Palm WebOS 1.2.1 now available, 'fixes' iTunes media sync {Engadget}

Oct 3rd 2009 4:05PM They way Palm did this is brilliant. Apple will file a lawsuit requiring Palm to basically undo this update. But now Palm has told hackers how to do the modification necessary to work with iTunes and I doubt Apple is going to be able to do much more to stop it now. If you emulate the USB Vendor ID, how many more checks are there? Develop your own proprietary connection? I'm sure this would be an easy hack to apply to future builds of WebOS should they be forced by Apple's hand to change their methods.

How would you change Snow Leopard? {Engadget}

Oct 2nd 2009 11:55PM Works really well on a hackintosh! Thanks Apple? ^_^

Engadget's back to school giveaway, part 3! {Engadget}

Video: ATI Radeon Eyefinity eyes-on, featuring Left 4 Dead on a 175-inch display {Engadget}

Sep 11th 2009 1:36PM Cowboys suck. Won't even make the playoffs this year.

iTunes 9 bringing iTunes LP functionality, 'beautiful new look' {Engadget}

Sep 9th 2009 1:45PM Man, and I actually thought that there was a sliver of hope that would permit syncing with 3rd party devices. Silly me.

Palm Pre falls to $149.99 on Sprint {Engadget}

Sep 9th 2009 3:03AM Since when did any of those companies you listed offer anything near what the iPhone offered when first launched? I mean the best thing out there was probably a Windows Mobile phone like the HTC6800. The nicer Nokia ones were really only for people that had a Nokia fetish. Blackberry had the Curve, Pearl, anything else really significant? No 3G support on their AT&T handsets then either. E-mail was the biggest thing with Blackberries, and of course the iPhone outdid that as well. Oh, and how many touch screen phones were there?

Apple didn't have to compete. None of those devices were anywhere near what it was when it launched in summer of 2007. The reason they were so successful is because of the way they managed to package all of those "nifty" features in an effective and easy to use package. Voila iPhone. Apple is all about making everyday computing stuff easier, why not do it to a cellphone too? As far as I'm concerned, they're dumbing stuff down and get to sit back and watch all the entertained chimps play with their expensive toys.

Plus the Pre is so much more fun to tool around with. Rooting, SSH, Shell access, optware packages, CSS, JavaScript, XHTML--all relatively simple programming tools. It's nerdy cool without being incredibly flashy. People want iPhones so other people know they have them. It's all about being a snob and it seems the people on this blog live up to it pretty well.
