Detroit Auto Show attendance drops for fourth straight year {Autoblog}

Jan 22nd 2007 9:08PM I'll concur that this year was less exciting than the previous three. Downstairs was noticeably less crowded and less used than previous years, and I mentioned to my friend that there seemed like there were less people this year, it felt much less claustrophobic. We chalked it up to being Tuesday afternoon, but I guess it was more than that.

Ford's big gun for Detroit: the Mustang-based Interceptor Concept {Autoblog}

Dec 31st 2006 12:00PM @Undercover Soul Brother

I totally agree with you. Part of the reason Ford is failing is precisely because they're so risk averse. They probably underestimated the appeal and overestimated the potential downside of the Forty-nine and the 427, although big failures do hurt.

They're actually in a position now where they don't have a ton left to loose and are really hungry for a win, so they could try something like this. My question, though, is whether the mindset among their executives has changed enough where they're willing to take this leap. I wouldn't mind seeing it, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Ford's big gun for Detroit: the Mustang-based Interceptor Concept {Autoblog}

Dec 31st 2006 1:18AM From the grill to the A-pillar it's a beaut, from the A-pillar back, its a 300. The roof line and rear fenders are particularly derivative. The fender flares look nearly 100% borrowed.

But still, it's a striking design, and I like it just based on gumption. I always wished they made the forty-nine concept from 2001 (http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=6859), that would have put them out front of all of the other domestics. But they couldn't even get the Focus right in 2001 (although they have it pretty well now, even if we are pining for the Euro version...), so I don't know if they could have pulled it off.

That's the problem with out-there projects like this: if you try and succeed you're in much better shape, but if you fail, you could be out of business. Does Ford have the chutzpah to do this right? Especially with their factories up as collateral?

Palm briefly confesses to Treo 680, 750 for Cingular {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 22nd 2006 9:58PM C'mon low end CDMA Treo... I don't want high speed data services (well, I do, but I sure don't want to pay for ), and I sure don't want to pay $600, I just want a phone that's also a PDA and does a reasonable job of both.
