BlackBerry KickStart 8220 gets really early review {Engadget}
Jul 23rd 2008 8:30PM the Sub-$50 price point is no doubt going to be with a 2yr contract =D No phone is that cheap.
If this actually released with a sub-$50 price, I'll extend my contract and get one just for the fact that it's a flip (It keeps my internal screen scratch-free), and the suretype keyboard.
I'm using a Nokia 5310, and it's a wonderful phone, but I don't need it for the music, as I have a Samsung P2, and I text a lot, seeing as that's considerably cheaper than wasting minutes.
I'm not someone who's going to use it for business, I'm only 17 so it'd be great. I hate Samsung phones, and Sidekicks, and everything else is much more. I was considering a Pearl, but it'll cost me $150 up-front, which I don't have.
It's not the prettiest, but it's not that bad either.
Video: ReWalk exoskeleton helps paraplegics walk {Engadget}
Jul 22nd 2008 12:55PM I think this is needed because of circulation.
Just because they can't feel their legs, it doesn't mean that they're not still living. Blood clots I hear aren't as uncommon as a lot of people think, also sores appear.
I don't think this would be a problem with chafing on skin, my friend who has bad cerebral palsy has braces that don't chafe and my hip brace has yet to bother me, no marks, no chafing, sores, nothing. Sometimes it looks like wearing something like that all day would bother you, it really isn't bad as long as it's properly padded and fitted. A brace that isn't the proper size or shape will create issues.
As for stepping on nails, I'm assuming those who wear this machine will always be wearing pants and shoes. At home, for me at least, I tend to take off my brace and kind of stick with my limited mobility. When they're out and about, they're going to be wearing shoes obviously. With the advancement of the technology, the movements will become more fluid, and will have emergency responses to things such as ice and whatnot. We can't 100% protect everyone, but if I were to become paralyzed, I'd get a pair of these in a heartbeat. I already have limited mobility, having that makes me appreciate that I can still walk. Not being able to walk would make me sell my house just for a pair of these.

Jul 19th 2008 8:07PM The day phones turn into what they did in the movie is the day I abandon all technology and live in the wild with nothing but some fishing line, a hook, hatchet, and Swedish firesteel
Orange's BIC phone comes ready to talk, doesn't require ballpoint licking first {Engadget}
Jul 14th 2008 11:08AM So wait, you have a $77 cell phone, which is only good for 2 months?
But they said it wasn't disposable...
I figured it'd at least be like a better form of pre-paid, such as you can just buy more cards for new minutes.
I honestly don't see the good with this phone...
GM dropping Volt's range from 600 to 360 miles {Engadget}
Jul 9th 2008 12:53PM You know, it'd be nice if I only had to drive 40 miles per day...
My college is 25 miles away, my high school is 15 miles away.
I'm driving my puny 1999 Toyota Corolla, and honestly, it doesn't seem that bad. The thing is getting over 31mpg city.
I don't always get why they think the average American drives so little. Maybe I'm just naive, but not everyone lives in a big city, there are only so many large cities in America, and those people probably drive a bit less than 40 what with public transportation being available.
Then take into account the fact that you have to gain the energy for the car somehow, and with plugging it in, you're just going to be billed for the vehicle some other way, and many plants are still coal, which has quite a bit of a Carbon footprint...

Jul 7th 2008 7:51PM Actually, I'm considering one of these for college.
I'm not so much about a high-end machine, as I am about it being able to fit in my bag with all of my books

eMachines bores us to tears, burns our eyes with cheap new desktops {Engadget}
Jul 2nd 2008 12:00PM Michael Wigle - How many basic computer users know what the fuck Ubuntu even is? Not many.
I have a home with 2 eMachines. They're older machines, but still great for the basic web surfing. I don't see why everyone is going insane over how bad the computers are.
Look at the price. Cheap.
Look at the people they're adhering to, basic computer users. Perhaps those who like the occasional web browsing or movie.
I run Vista on an eMachine W2925 with upgraded memory up to 2GB. It runs just fine. Sure it's not lightning speed, but good enough for a family member, who just likes to surf the web and play Go-Stop.
Nintendo's DS handheld used to teach English in Japan {Engadget}
Jul 1st 2008 7:07PM 1. Sony is Japanese =\
2. The DS is cheaper
3. The DS is more child-friendly
4. The DS has the touch screen. Handwriting recognition is amazing.
5. The DS has a microphone as well. Speech recognition is amazing.
6. The Ability to connect to other DS' via wireless connection would give students the opportunity to connect to each other to play English games and improve their language abilities through things such as dialog.
While the PSP is nice, the DS suits this need more.
As for the one asking for Japanese software, there is kanji training software for the DS, you need to at least read instructions though (In Japanese of course).
Evento's BuzzBall: your own personal roller coaster {Engadget}
Jun 30th 2008 12:27AM Has anyone else messed with those roller coaster simulators found in a few arcades?
They have one in a mall about 1 1/2 hours away, and for $2 a ride, you can get a somewhat decent thrill, though you can tell you're not quite in a coaster yet.
They have it in Disney World too. Good times =P
But I'd love to ride in one of these.
