Geek Squad visa application approved, Best Buy opening stores in UK {Engadget}

Oct 21st 2009 9:14AM Please put your stores in city centres, so we don't have to put up with a bloody hour long trek to a soulless retail park in the middle of nowhere like it is for most PC Worlds/Comets.

Geek Squad visa application approved, Best Buy opening stores in UK {Engadget}

Oct 21st 2009 9:11AM Best Buy already own half of Carphone Warehouse, it was hinted a while back that they wanted to set up Best Buys but clearly the Geek Squad was easier to set up first.

OpenMoko branches out with new $99 WikiReader device {Engadget}

Oct 13th 2009 12:03PM Add narration of every article by Stephen Fry and everyone will want one! (whether Stephen Fry will agree to narrating the whole of Wikipedia is another matter...)

International Kindle ships October 19 to over 100 countries for $279, 'US' edition falls to $259 {Engadget}

Oct 7th 2009 8:51AM I think this is a really awkward way of selling these to people outside the States with all the roaming fees added to book purchases and that, plus shipping to the UK, for example will attract more awkwardness with the paying VAT and customs duties on top of the price.

I think I'll wait until they sort out a Amazon UK version and UK SIM cards are plugged into the things so there won't be roaming fees, and prices are in sterling so you're not flicking to a currency converter all the time.

Sep 23rd 2009 8:01AM ...And of course, those self scan checkouts are rubbish- in the local Tesco there's always at least one that either isn't working or is running at a snail's pace or the chip & pin machine is broken. You might as well pay for four human checkout operators and the queues would probably go faster!

Archos 5 Internet Tablet makes an honest PMP out of Android {Engadget}

Sep 15th 2009 1:38PM Hooray an Archos device that you won't have to pay way over-the-odds prices just to enable the web browser!

Sony announces Reader Daily Edition, free library ebook checkouts {Engadget}

Aug 26th 2009 8:40AM University library access would be fantastic, during my degree getting journal articles and book chapters onto the 505 was a clunky process, and wasn't well formatted. If they can get partnerships with the big journal article databases like Jstor and EBSCO this would be a must have for students!

Kindle's German launch stalled by T-Mobile and Vodafone? {Engadget}

Jul 1st 2009 12:56PM I suppose no UK release any time soon either then if Vodafone's being like this in Germany?
